Question Can't copy songs from itunes to ipod

I have a new computer and installed itunes and music. However when I connect my ipod it shows up but I cannot transfer songs from itunes to it. What is the cause of the problem and possible solution?
    Thank you for any help!!!

It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.
So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it.
For more information on copying content to an iPod manually see this article ''how to transfer or copy music from iPod to PC''.
Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!

Install the latest iTunes on your home computer. Authorize it in the iTunes store with the same account you have on your iPod. Connect the iPod BUT DO NOT SYNC. Go to the File menu and choose Transfer Purchases... This will transfer your apps and any iTunes purchased music and videos to iTunes on your home computer.

Now you can sync; the sync will delete content from the iPod, but since it is now in iTunes on your home computer it will be restored as part of the sync.

Have you tried Apple online support?

You can use or sync your purchases from the iTunes Store on up to five different computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible computers). When you sync or play an item you've purchased, your computer is "authorized" for purchase using your Apple ID.

Note: Songs you encode in AAC format from a source other than the iTunes Store, such as your own audio CDs, and iTunes Plus content (music and music videos) do not need to be authorized.

Q: Would you patronize a streetwalker?

A: No, I would treat her as an equal.

Is it possible that you have a different iTunes account for the iPod than the one you use for the iPad?
Technically, they should still transfer (as far as I know) but might not play. But since I have never owned an iPod, I cannot say for certain.

I would think It has less to do with being an iPod than probably not being authorized by iTunes to play the music files. ITunes music that is older DRM protected AAC file format will still need authorization to play, or iTunes will not play it or allow the files to be transferred/synced. So, you might be right, that a different Apple ID is being used for one device, than the other. One can authorize up to 5 computers to play music and content.

I might be wrong, I am not sure how Apple handles older DRM music files with the cloud and multiple computers.

Well if you bought those songs on iTunes I think it’s easy to get them back, because they should be linked to your account so you can download them for free again.
But if those music on your ipod are from other computers via itunes, you may not transfer them from ipod to pc because itunes can only transfer these fiels from itunes to your ipod touch. In that case you will need some other tools to do that. Google iPod Transfer and maybe you can find something useful.

I was under the impression iTunes works on a 1 way street - the PC/Mac to the device and never the other way around. In order to retrieve songs from the iDevice, you will need to search online for free software to rip music from the iDevice to the PC , resync the ipod to the newly created iTunes library.
