AT&T doesn't want T-Mobiles network as much as they do their spectrum.. They are going to tear the T-Mobile network apart the first chance they get.

Unfortunately, I fear this is true. If they wanted that type of network they could have already built it with all the money they have.

Judging AT&T on some vague opinions from unnamed acquaintances of yours doesn't seem that objective.

Instead let's take a look instead at the recently released AT&T quarterly report:

    http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pi...code=financial

We find that churn was an ultra-low 1.15% which is improved from the prior quarter. So that shows there's not all of these dissatisfied customers on AT&T as you claim. In fact AT&T had net adds of 331,000 postpaid subscribers.

T-Mobile on the other hand as much higher churn and is losing postpaid subscribers.

That only happened to iPhone customers who tethered via the wrong APN. As I don't recall you expressing interest in using the iPhone, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I don't care if they fail on some temporary convention center network for the next 10 years. I won't be there. It has nothing to do with the service I will receive on their permanent HSPA+ & LTE network.

AT&T has never retroactively applied tethering charges to previous bills. This is false.

You can quote churn stats and sup adds all you want. Fact is The people who get Att and Verizon are people who do whatever the tv tells them to do. My un-named, but very real friends complain constantly, but they never leave because the are afraid of change, and that is the type of person who uses Att and Verizon, and why those 2 companies have less churn. I have known people who for years have had issues with verizon that would never leave because the commercial say they have the best network, and after years with Verizon, when we finally talked them into leaving, now they have never been happier with their service, but if we hadn't talked them into switching, they never would have. Cracks me up there is a Talk show host who does nothing but complain about his Att phone, Now that Att is paying him to advertize , he still has them and touts how good they are. But we all know his service didn't suddenly get better.

You never know, maybe they sent him a MicroCell or better yet a cell tower! /sarcasm

But I agree, I have plenty of friends who stick with Verizon for their supposed excellent coverage and "because they rule the air" haha. A friend of mine barely gets 1 bar at his home with VZW and yet still uses them.

If at&t is so wonderful, why they always come up last in Consumer Reports and JD Power year after year..... Their low churn is due to the power of iPhone, not due to wonder of network

Nobody does a better job at marketing their products than Verizon.

Although not all their customers fit into that mold there are lots of customers like that. It's similar to the old saying "No one ever got fired for buying IBM" which meant basically it's better to do what is expected and be wrong than to take a chance and risk criticism even though the alternative is reported to be better at many things.

There is comfort traveling in a herd, especially on things people do not understand and don't want to think about.

Many people are loyal to Verizon because their coverage actually is great in most of the country. They have their trouble spots, but there is good reason why every national report places Verizon as the most reliable carrier in most cities in the US. Their customer service hasn't been completely outsourced like some other carriers and they do work hard for your business. Still I don't like the idea of tmobile gone. Less competition means Verizon and at&t getting bigger and greedier.

I hope the buyout is blocked. The FCC and doj must see through Att lies about spectrum.

Funny thing is that while I am typing this, the annoying Att commercial comes on saying the planned combination of Tmobile will help them.

I hope it does too, I don't want to be part of AT&T. They do not really care about their network here, and I don't want them to wreck what I have. I am content with T-Mobile, it will not be better for me

I don't know what a merger here would mean, T-Mobile is still the only carrier in our area without 3G, and they have stopped putting up new sites, so things couldn't get any worse than they are, maybe stay the same. I hate to say it, but AT&T has surpassed them here, with new sites and 3G on almost all of their network.

Edit-T-Mobile does have authorized dealers in Mendocino and Lake Counties now, DFM Car Stereo (a local audio/video place in the two counties only) and Radio Shack (corporate store in Ukiah only, the other stores are franchises and sell U.S. Cellular), so that's a good start. I have to wonder about their lack of new sites and 3G, either they are waiting to see what happens with the AT&T deal, or they just put up "just enough" sites in our area and have no plans to add more anytime soon. Verizon is set to have LTE 4G here next year sometime, and U.S. Cellular is planning on rolling it out here next year or in 2013.
