Post Tampa to Orlando and everything in-between now 100% covered by 4G LTE!

Holy crap, Tampa to Orlando and everything in-between now 100% covered by 4G LTE!

I just checked the coverage map.

Looks like VZW was able to get the GigE fiber back-haul on those sites faster than expected from the cable companies, ILEC (AT&T and CenturyLink), IXCs, Level3, etc, etc.

No more pissing for all the vacation/holidaymakers in the area now!

Now if they would only cover more of the Miami area and other VHR (very high revenue) areas.

And once the Vodafone LTE roaming deal kicks in VZW will be MAKING EVEN MORE PROFIT $$$ for in-bound international LTE roaming. (They have the ENTIRE Walt Disney World Resort covered with eNodeB's now with fiber back-haul. In fact when I was there a couple of months ago I noticed a FAKE DISNEY STYLE TREE which in reality was a cell tower. I believe Disney now has a DAS system. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's cool. I wish they'd launch entire cities at once. When I was in Boise they only lit up the downtown core with LTE and that seems to be the case with a few other cities that I've visited. It's nice but it sucks to move one mile down the road and switch back to lame old 3G . I hear they're on track for a finished rollout by 2013 though so more coverage will come in time.

It would be nice if all of the Turnpike was 4G between South FL and Orlando. Once you drive north of Palm Beach its back to 3G.
=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.

    => VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

What device are you using and where are you testing it? At the store?

Why can't they get the Lee County area (SWFL- Ft. Myers/Cape Coral)? They have 4G at RSW Airport though.

Agreed... I think they already had a great network... LTE is only making it better!

I have no idea what the trouble could be in the Tallahassee area. My only guess is that since it's a new market, that maybe they don't have it up on a lot of towers yet or there could be too much demand being placed on them.
I know that when using the ThunderBolt, I see average 4G speeds of 8-12Mbps downloads in the area between Ft Lauderdale and Boca Raton, but if I go to western Boca (441 SR7), or far west in Palm Beach (west on Okeechobee past 441/SR7), then it's 3G area. When I was in Orlando a couple months ago, it was locked on 4G, even in the theme parks, and was getting up to 15Mbps download speeds.

I'm in Orlando right now seeing an average of 30-40 down (during the day) on 4G and between 10-12 up. 3G is generally around 2-2.5 down and 1 up...very impressive!

Getting around 20MB/sec up in Altamonte Springs / Sanford areas. A damn shame I have 1 bar of signal at home on my Charge.

people at the verizon store at exit 136 said "October", and it's on the list for this year. it's probably because it's a smaller area compared to miami/tampa/orlando/fort lauderdale so we get put on the back burner.

the 4G from the airport reaches pretty far though. I live in lehigh and it works on most of lee blvd. and off homestead, but it's slow and they broke it a few months ago.

is it like this for you?

also, Gorilla: maybe verizon hates florida. > but it appears that yours is working fine by now.
and my speeds were really nice in orlando, fastest I saw at night was ~43 mbit/sec downloading some stuff. at least I know my phone isn't broken.

corys00: keep in mind the signal bars may only represent 1x signal. this is how the thunderbolt is, not sure if the charge is the same way. I have a full signal (6 bars) outside my home according to my phone, but if I walk 20 feet, 4G drops because the tower is so far away for that. we have 1x/3g towers close by.
