One of my friends picked one up...replaced his iPad 2 with it and is very happy so far. For the cost, I've been debating one too.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone here had scored Acer's 10.1" Android tablet. I have, and wow, it's pretty cool. Gingerbread takes some getting used to, especially coming from Eclair/Froyo and before, but it's all good. With my keyboard and mouse connected, it feels almost like I'm on my Linux-powered PC.

Ok, so I now own an Acer A500. Letting it charge now, so haven't played with it yet. Excited to though.![]()
It is a pretty nice device. Vary convenient to carry around instead of a laptop. It comes with a number of apps for different purposes. Although it has Social Jogger, I prefer just using the Facebook Web link provided. Of course, you need to install the Howard Forums app from the Market. There's a similar app for the xda forum, and they have an active Iconia A500 community. For eBooks, I use Aldiko. My preferred music app on my A500 is Winamp.
I just picked up the Iconia A500 this weekend with the doc. I am loving this device, much better surfing the net and reading new from this device rather than my gingerbread phone. I like honeycomb 3.1 (just updated) one recommendation I have is to purchase thumb keyboard it makes typing so much simpler.

I picked up one last Sunday from Wal Mart, amazing tablet. Atlanta, GA
I've had one for a couple of months now. rooted and hacked to accept ad hoc connections, so that I can tether it to my Transform Ultra. I'm loving it, and it only keeps getting better.
I, too, have an A500 - although mine has the updated Gingerbread. It is a pretty cool device, although a little heavier than expected, but it is certainly better than using a phone to surf. Wish my Acer D257, when in Android mode, was as useful and upgradeable - but it doesn't even offer Google Market.
I'm pleased with my Iconia. I'm anxiously awaiting the ICS update for it, but nobody knows when that's coming unfortunately.

Has it been confirmed that the a500 is in fact getting ICS?

According to this it is:
Acer is the latest company that adds to the very short list of manufacturers who announced plans to upgrade their Android devices to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Acer Poland told folks over at Tablet-Online that Acer Iconia Tab A500/A501, Iconia Tab A100/101 will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade early next year, most likely in January.

Looks like I'm late to the party, but I just got mine recently, great device for the price I'm loving it.
BUT , has anyone else found the wi-fi reception to be sort of terrible?
I've compared it to my laptop standing pretty close to my router, Laptop getting full reception ICONIA hovering around 60%
Is it just me ?![]()
"I hope I didn't brain my damage."
Brought to you by the letter "N"
Well at least it's not just me...
Maybe an ICS update (if it ever comes) will provide some help.
Over the weekend I bought a second router so I could move my Wi-Fi to a higher point in my house free of obstructions, but I haven't completed that project yet.
