Motorola bravo mobile hotspot

I recently purchased a Motorola bravo and put it on straight talk. I
am trying to get the mobile hotspot to work. It has android 2.2.1. There is no option to install 3rd party apps in the menu so I can't use a root program. I attempted to root the phone with the adb method. I get "rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin: permission denied" error. Is there any other way to get the lock off the mobile hotspot feature and possibly enable 3rd party apps?

I've done some research and I think I need to.use superoneclick to root my phone. The problem is the only place I can find it is temporarily down. Does anyone know another source for this program?
