Going to US and Asia with Telus iPhone 4, how to avoid fees?

In the next month I will often go a out of the country and I will need the iPhone GPS so I cant turn off 3G but I will turn off Cellular data. Will I pay when I'll receive SMS/MMS/phone calls but not answer them? If yes, is there a way to block them without calling Telus? I have a jailbroken iPhone if it's can made a difference.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Cellular data IS 3G..you turn off cellular data you get no 3G. You will pay for incoming texts as well. I'd take my SIM out and leave it at home.

    Toule,

    Greetings.

saberon is right... turn off the Cellular data is one of the items to avoid data roaming. However, all incoming SMS/MMS will still counted as roaming items. Your iPhone 4 is still locked to TELUS?

Once u arrived in airport, turn on the phone. Boom, two "welcome" roaming texts, of course you have to pay for it. You should just take saberon's suggestion.

Sorry for highjacking the tread but, I'm going to the US in a few weeks and my iphone 4 is unlocked ( i got it from apple).
Does ATT do pay as you go with the iphone? I know I would have to buy a new sim from them too. Does anyone have any info?

    Thanks

imaclown: Get a TMobile sim for when you're in the US. Great internet price at 1.49/day unlimited, not 3g, but cheap... It's what I have for when I'm traveling.
