Wink Need advice : Sharp 007sh J or similar to use outside Japan

    Hi,
I'm new here and I need some help.
I'm from France and I use Bouygues telecom.

I searched a lot without find reply or it's not simple to understand
Sorry for my bad English and I hope it's okay ^___^

My friend can buy for me a Keitai in "pay as you go", she said me.
My choice is the 007sh or a same phone with touch screen, Android and clamshell.

I know he works on GSM and he has a SIM slot.

    Questions now :

Can I put in my SIM or must I use an hypersim ?
(I don't know if Softbank sells the phone unlock or maybe I can see at DocoMo too, I read somewhere they doesn't lock some phone)

Camera, Internet, sms/mms, calls will works ? (with my SIM or Hypersim)

I think that phone are Wifi, can I use internet ?

I think, I will need an adaptator but can I load him with USB ?

If you haven't this phone but some similar, I take your advices too ^^

And what others keitai hybrid do you recommend me who works outside Japan ? (with clamshell and touchscreen and funny colors with android).

Thank you for your help o/
Hope my English is not so bad >.<
    Aye Sir ^_^ o/

Answers to your questions in order: you need a hypersim, yes everything you state should work over 2G assuming you have your APN set up properly, yes WiFi will work for internet, not sure what you mean (if you mean transfer data via USB, then yes) and afaik your only other option atm for a clamshell android-based phone is the factory unlocked Sharp 7218/7228.

    Hi ^^
    Thank you for your reply.

    So, if I understand well.
If I bought 007sh in "pay as you go", I need a hypersim and wifi will work.

assuming you have your APN set up properly
What do you mean ? I read something about that but don't understand >.<

I don't speak about data, just load the battery ^^

And if I can find the phone software unlock, must I use a hypersim too ? And functions will works ? (maybe it's impossible to find that).

What hypersim use with this phone ?

I seen about Sharp 7218/7228, do you recommend me ? They are good ? I need a hypersim too ? And what ?

    Last questions
Docomo and softbank doesn't sell phone unlock ?

    Really thanks for your help

    Hi Aya19th,

I'm not an expert like yamanote, but I know one thing: you need to set up APN properly in order to use mobile internet (3G, EDGE and GPRS). But you don't need to set up APN for Wi-Fi .

Unfortunately, at this point, Softbank phones cannot be software-unlocked, meaning, there is no way to software-unlock the 007SH at this time. That is why you need the hypersim. Otherwise, you can't even use the camera. Most functions should work with a GOOD hypersim. But 1Seg TV service will not work, because there is no 1Seg in France.

Most people would recommend an iNex hypersim. But beware, there are many fake iNex hypersims out there. Also keep in mind, hypersims are not guaranteed to work 100%.

Sharp 7218 is the Chinese version of SH-01B. Sharp 7228 is the Chinese version of SH-08A. The reason why yamanote recommends them is probably because, you DON'T need a hypersim for these 2 models. Sharp phones made for the Chinese market are not locked.

Docomo phones released after April 2011 can be unlocked. If you decide to buy a Docomo phone, your friend will need to bring the phone to a Docomo store in Japan, and ask them to unlock it (there will be a fee).

Softbank does not sell unlocked phones, and they DO NOT offer unlocking service.

APN -> Access Point Name (not Appareil Photo Numérique :P )

It's what tells your phone how to connect to the data network, i.e. which access point to connect through, which port, user and password, etc. If you have an Android phone already, you can go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names to see what's configured. Other phones that have data access will have similar menus to configure these, and you can of course ask Bouygues for the info.

    Yes.

What do you mean ? I read something about that but don't understand >.<
You need to set up your APN if you want to use cellular data (you don't need to do this if you only want WiFi). Since you use Bouygues Telecom, your APN settings will be something like this:

    Internet + MMS:
    APN: mmsbouygtel.com
    MMSC: http://mms.bouyguest...m.fr/mms/wapenc
    Proxy MMS: 62.201.129.226
    Port MMS: 8080
    MCC: 208
    MNC: 20
    Type d'Auth. : PAP
    Type d'APN : default,supl,mms ou default

    (input that to Settings>Wireless&networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names>menu button>New APN)

And your SMS center number (to get your SMSes working) will be:

    SMSC: +33660003000

I don't speak about data, just load the battery ^^
Yes you can charge over USB, but I think you need to install the phone's drivers first and enable USB charging in Settings>USB connection>USB battery charge. The drivers should be on SoftBank's website.

If you can try to get a mains adaptor/charger since USB charging (at least in my experience) is rather slow. Not sure what type of plug the 007SH uses, it's either the FOMA port or microUSB.

And if I can find the phone software unlock, must I use a hypersim too ? And functions will works ? (maybe it's impossible to find that).
As of right now, there is no software unlock for the 007SH. If one does eventually emerge then no you won't need to use a hypersim and yes all the functions should still work.

But right now you'll still need a hypersim.

What hypersim use with this phone ?
Any generic hypersim should work, assuming there aren't any compatibility issues with your carrier.

I seen about Sharp 7218/7228, do you recommend me ? They are good ? I need a hypersim too ? And what ?
If you don't want to deal with a hypersim and you want a clamshell Android based phone, then these are your only choices.

No hypersim needed. I think you'll be able to use 3G with these, which you won't with the 007SH. But you do lose the CCD camera, water/dustproofing and several other niceties (NFC, 1seg, etc) that are on the 007SH.

    Last questions
Docomo and softbank doesn't sell phone unlock ?
docomo does, SoftBank (as of right now) doesn't.

    Really thanks for your help
    No problem.

You think 007Sh will appear unlocked on Chinese Market, or will DoCoMo present something similiar this autumn...

Wow so many advices, thank you ^^

Now I understand for APN, I needed to do the same with my Jinpeng.

7218 and 7228 are really ugly... >.< Look like so bad quality and ugly colors too !

Do you recommend me some phone with clamshell, touch screen, good camera but without Android and who works without hypersim ? (any brand or non Japanese phone).

Shame that doesn't exist any code or any software to unlock the 007sh who is so cool >.<

I hope docomo will release the same soon :x

The SH-01B design which is on the 7218 and 7228 is considered by many as one of the best looking keitais. Each to their own I guess.

Not sure how you're able to see that it's bad quality in images, but okay.

Take a look at the SH-10C.

The finish seems less beautiful on image and video. Bad plastic, sad colors, big sharp on it, etc,...
Not the same good feeling about 007sh or 002sh for exemple.

I take a look on sh-10c and sh-01b and I hope docomo will release a new clamshell android soon ^^
Or maybe someone know other phone to recommend me

It's clear/transparent plastic. I guess some people's definition of 'bad' and 'ugly' are different.

You realize that the SH-10C is exactly what you said you want, right?

Maybe not the good words, it's not my taste that's all ^^
Sorry, if my English is so bad >.<

Yes, I seen SH-10C after you talk to me
Good spec, look great ! But I don't like the shape of the phone.
Yeah, I know, I'm picky xD

Reason why, I wait a little for new release from docomo. Or other advice about other brand (japanese or not). ^^

I really thank you for all your help. And, sure I will buy a new phone soon

Edit : Is it possible to disable the 3g on 007sh ?
What is the difference between iNex and I-smarphone ?

Yes. You have to, to get incoming calls to work.

What is the difference between iNex and I-smarphone ?
Different brand of hypersim. iNex is generally regarded as overpriced, but seems to have excellent compatibility with many carriers (esp. Rogers' 4000 SIM).

i-smartphone should do the same task for up to 20x less money, assuming your SIM card doesn't have compatibility issues with the hypersim.

Okay, so Inex is better than i-smartphone.
I seen many I-smartphone on french forum for 30$ who works on many softbank. It's an other alternative less expensive if inex doesn't work ^^ That's great !

    And 3D is deactivated on 007sh ?

Do you know when docomo shows their new release for automn ?

I love this website <3 I'll watch this forum regularly now
