I have one activated for my Girlfriend since she was pregnant, not sure it has been mentionned in the earlier post but if you use an addon, the expiration date renew also. My girlfriend never use the phone really, it was just for safety and still the same, so we put a 50.00$ card with the 5$ SMS add-on, the rate drop down to 20cents/minutes and she can text me.

with the 911 fee every month, we do around 7-8 months with the card! Nice trick for the low texting people.

If you add $50 credit which has 60 days of effectiveness, then if you add the $5 SMS add-on, does that mean you will have 90 days from today?

I was going to disable the receiving of SMS, but just could not figure out where on the website.

I currently have a Telus prepaid account. If I buy another prepaid phone which comes with $50 of activation credit, and when I activate it on this existing prepaid account, will the $50 be credited to the account?

No. If it came with the phone it is an activation credit, not an airtime credit.

None of the current brand new phones come with a $50 anymore. About 5 years ago they came with a an actual fifty prepaid cards which could have been used on an existing account. But all the new ones come with a $20 new activation credit based on the imei of the device.

London Drugs has Refurbished Telus Pay as you go phones which comes with an actuall $25 card which can be used on an existing account or can be used for new activation.

jattdesi is right. Somehow refurb Telus prepaid phones come with a generic prepaid card that can be used on any account as a refill. Brand new Telus prepaid phones now come w/ Activation Credit only, unlike the Prepaid Activation Kit that came w/ the phone years ago. The amount is also smaller than what it was. At one time, some phones even came with $50. Activation Credit and $25. additional refill card, making it $75. in total. Those were the good days.

Now $100. refill card is good for 1 year. That is probably the best bet on the long run.

do you like it ..... budget wise ??? or is it just like any other prepaid carrier ?
I am familiar with rogers prepaid and petro canada prepaid....

to me it seems telus prepaid is not so popular and wondering why ?
Canadians are only gradually starting to see the benefits of prepaid, they seemed to think they were third rate citizens (some still do) :P

I used Telus Prepaid for a while, no complaints at all. Friendly CS and no trouble with payments. I just moved to Koodo (Telus sub brand, btw) because they offered something that better matches my spending habits

Edit the values yourself on the sheet "Input" and check the results on the sheet "Koodo"
