Should I have my ESN placed in the metropcs inventory first and then dial *22804? Or should *22804 automatically go OTA update?

I am dialing *22804 on my verizon iPhone 4 and it just hangs up...nothing happens, no metropcs, no verizon, it just hangs up every time I dial it.

    Help!

That kept happening to me the first too cause i was using a custom ipsw, and if you are also getting the constant could not activate pop up too like every 5 seconds. then I suggest you restore to official Apple 5.0.1 ipsw and update carrier settings when its done. It will update your baseband though but it allowed *22804 to work on mine and get the metro prl through OTA. when it says its been activated just jailbreak and get the esn added you dnt need to have it added first.

I just restored in iTunes and the carrier was atomically updated to 11.2. And still *22804 doesn't wok. It just hangs up again and *228 goes straight to verizon. I already have my verizon iPhone 4 esn in the metropcs inventory but still nothing. Help please!

I stumbled into this thread looking for something else.
But, isn't that exactly what the folks in another thread here have solved?

That can mean your market does not support over-the-air programming.

Yes, I've tried that method before, doesn't work, CDMA networks use a different setting to connect to networks, and not through APNs like GSM networks do.

After you restored you did set it up as a new iphone right? didn't use restore from back up after did you? Cause that might also have something to do with it.

I don't think updating the baseband on a Verizon iPhone 4 is really of any issue as it doesn't have a SIM card slot so there's no point in unlocking it (for GSM use), and also the fact that the OTA activation is not blocked.

One way 3G and Data could work is through metroPCS's end where they can automatically add the metroWEB settings for us over the air since manual programming of anything is not possible (YET) on the iPhone. I doubt they will do it though since their only support for flashed phones is basic talk and text but it'd still be great line-up if they do do it.

If they do, do it, they could also use the 3026 PRL and have 3G data fully working on the iPhone 4 (with down speeds of 500-800kbps)!

Why don't you just use the 3026 PRL then if it will get data working??
Plus how do you know about that YET thing.
Do you think it will ever be possible??? To get those MetroWEB settings?
To finally get 3G working? You think it will ever be possible? (Time range?)
Because if you look up onesolution11 on youtube.
They say if you have a iPhone 4 (GOOD ESNNNN!) (CANT BE BAD ESN)
They say they can get Web/data/3g working. But I have talked to three people doing flash service.
They tell me its not possible (yet more yets) and they say some people say they can do it,
but its really just a scam. Thanks I hope you respond to my questions.

If you get into flashing other phones to other CDMA networks, you would understand that jus flashing the PRL does not give you access to web and data, the right settings have to be input.

On Androids, the menu is usually somewhere in the OS, either ##3282 (#DATA) or such.

On iPhone however, there is no menu, and the only way would be through QPST but so far the diagnostic ports I've tried from other sources to connect to don't work (plus when it does work its only read-only according to the one who found it)

Since the iPhone has a very locked down file-system (jail breaking will not allow modifications to Carrier settings as there is no CommCenter patch for us yet), the only way to input those settings is through OTA. Like how the MIN and MDN (mobile device number) is imported automatically, metroPCS could also do the same for web. I only say that they should include the new 3026 PRL as additional because it would allow 3G data to work to instead of just old-fashion EVDO 1x.

Btw, metroPCS does not give a sh*t if the phone has a good or bad ESN from another network's database, to them a newly added ESN in the database is a fresh, clean ESN. Don't believe anyone else.

Is this why I couldn't find the PRL?? (My iPhone 4 STILL worked flashing and working great!)
And this person on youtube is fake???, because like you said it doesn't matter about the ESN.
