$50 would be great. And in order for the MEID to be re-written that would have to be something that was done intentionally with the proper tools right? Thats not something that would change from a basic itunes restore is it?

@CM --correct,you would have to know what you are doing to chng meid, this tool will have that feature to chng meid, only because it is a world tool and this legal in some country's it will be used in.i know people will use this to get phones on boost, cricket and other networks illegally, but there is nothing i can do about what people do from the there own houses/stores

no,it has no ties with any carrier db,it is a flashing utility only.adding esn's with your carrier will be up to you.

but yes the tool will (hopefully with version2 in a week or so) install the commcenter patch and the selected carrier bundle as well as set the spc to 0's all with a couple of clicks.
the version 1 will support iphone4 (any)ipad2 and iphone4s (verizon) the version 2 aprox a week later will support iphone 4,4s (any) ipad2,ipad3.

there will be a support thread on cdmagurus.com as well as the link for the tool its-self.

just restore iphone then go see genius bar for fix then reflash when done.once you pay dfs you can flash that fon multiple times, same with my tool, unless you change the meid, then you gotta pay again with either tool.

Thats such an easy fix man. You can get a whole new back housing/Glass which would include a new camera lens for roughly $10. And its only two screws. And it only takes like a minute to change. If you lived in the area i would even fix it for you for free. I reapair iDevices and have lots of extra parts. Sure does beat making an appointment at the genius bar and restoring and re-hacking your device.

Is this confirmed? Will I not be able use a jailbroken/DFS iPhone in MA or PA?

just my opinion, but i never encourage anyone to open a phone who is not comfortable with hardware, while it is a simple fix there are still obvious things to go wrong for the inexperienced tech.it does take a special screwdriver, and if the screws get stripped they are difficult to remove.as well as the factory backs sometime get "stuck" and dont slide without some finess.anyway,if you are under warrany and do go to the g-bar make sure your not jb'n or that will be the end of your warranty.

Agreed. And yes the newer iP4's do take a new pentalobe screwdriver, but i carry them all. I work on so many iPhones i guess i kind of take it for granted and dont realize how overwhelming it can be to the typical person to dismantle their expensive toy. But all in all it is pretty simple to someone who has done it a few times. And im more than willing to help out our fellow iPhone modders.

I have actually had it repaired before but the guy who repaired it for me was an as*hole! He reused my mounting bracket which was completely fine by me, but when he installed it, a few minutes later after he left, dark spots started to show up and a blue line on the right part of the screen, it kept changing positions until it concentrated on the top right where it just shows a huge concentration of black pixels now. It's really annoying considering I paid about $80 to get it fixed. I contacted him to get it fixed and he said he would come by, a few days later he I texted him again and he said he was not going to fix it (kept making up BS excuses like how I have to add $10 for warranty when in the texts he clearly says the screen comes with 12 month warranty from him, I was willing to pay anyways) and that it was completely my fault that it was like that.

I would fix it myself but 1. Apple will replace it for free and 2. I dont exactly have disposable income, I'm only 16 lol :/ plus my phone has a somewhat loose Sleep button (kind of hard to press) and a loose Home button as well, I have to click down all the way, so I mean might as well get it replaced.

Plus I can't get it replaced because DFS can only be used with the specific iPhone MEID I register it with, which sucks big time :/ I can't wait for Rich's tool! $25-$50 is a big deal to me lol

If I can get it replaced at Apple, I can just use the $50-$75 I am suppose to spend on the LCD screens and glass back to use Rich Hathaway's tool

oh,we were talking about back glass....the lcd and digitizer is in no way a easily repaired part. and should only be repaired by someone qualified with the right tools, static braclet should be worn and it should be done in a clean static free workstation.
it sounds like the flex cable in your phone was damaged from what you described.but any way if your still in warranty and there are no signs of tampering you should be good.hopefully the dude put the 2 screws back in the bottom, and they dont look mangled up,if they see you opened it no more warranty.or if they see it been jailbroken no more warranty,so be carefull, good luck.

From what it sounds like to me is that he didn't change the LCD and digitizer as a complete assembly. The iPhone 4, unlike the 3g/3GS's, have an LCD that is fused to the digitizer and cannot be separated or changed individually without damage. They should always be changed as a complete assembly. You cant change one without changing the other.

$80 sounds a bit steep considering the crappy work you said he did. I charge $80 for a full front and back replacement or color conversion of your choice. Or $60 Just the front. And you get all new OEM parts. And i guarantee my work. As far as your home button, that should have been changed while the screen was off because the button is so cheap. And for the fact that iPhone 4 more than any other previous model has known home button issues. The button becomes unresponsive and takes several presses or hard presses at times.

And as rich hathaway already stated hopefully the guy who put your phone back together wasn't sloppy. The CDMA model has a couple black stickers that cover some screws and if he didnt take the time to put them back on upon reassembly then apple might notice them missing if they pull the back cover off (which they do to check the water sensor stickers inside).

But its worth a shot if your still under warranty, all they can do is tell you no. But if you do decide to take it in for warranty now is the time to do it while apple is still signing 5.1.1. You dont want to wait and do it after apple releases iOS6 because then you'll have to deal with a tethered jailbreak for a while.
