Thanks guys I now swap between my Mifi and Charge 4glte. It works and im really more curious on the FCC guidelines for the 700mhz. Did they specificly state this cannot mess with the customers ability to swap and or effect their plans? I agree that i should be able to do whatever i want with my sim and plan on any authorized device on their network.

I'm really tempted to pick up a tab 10.1 and swap sims between my thunderbolt and it. What's stopping me is potentially being dropped from the unlimited plan to the 2Gb.

I have just ordered a sim cutter and adaptor to be able to swap my sim from TB to Galaxy Tab. I would like to hear of anybody that had their plan changed because of this. Does VZW have the ability to see what device the sim is in?

I've been thinking about getting Pantech AirCard and Galaxy Tab if the SIM swapping is not gonna downgrade my unlimited data/tethering plan.

Ok not sure if this applies or not, I took the SIM card from a samsung 4g MIFI that was given out at google I/O and used it in a thunderbolt. All worked well until the 3rd they when they closed the acct (before the 3 month free period was over). I called in and they said the computer closed the account automatically when it detected an unauthorized device on it. So apparently (at least on the free google i/o sim) when you use it for an extended period of time (in this case 3 days) in a different device, they will shut it off. I have used the sim off and on for a few hours at a time in the thunderbolt and had no problems. It was this time I left it in for 3 days when they shut it off. So it seems their system doesn't check constantly, maybe once a day or two.

Not sure if this applies to normal consumer SIM (i.e. not the free google I/O sim). I have used my normal 4g SIM (paid for on my account) in thunderbolt and samsung mifi and pantech usb modem. For 2 to 3 days at a time and have had no problems (they didn't shut down my account).

I would say it got shut down because of the free SIM. What that does tell us is they can tell what device your using..

Oh they definitely can tell. Try this, put your SIM into a different device, then login to myverizon, it will show you the new device (usually within a few minutes). So for example if I have my SIM in the thunderbolt, it will show thunderbolt, as soon as I put it into the mifi and power it on, my verizon shows mifi as the equipment on my line.

But it's still unclear wether they will shut down your account for simply swapping SIMs between two LTE devices you own. UML290 is tempting as much as Galaxy tab is. Arrrgh

I am on day 3 of swapping from a thunderbolt (my spare line) into a galaxy tab. I have left the sim in the tab for 3 days and have been using it. Yes verizon online shows the tab, still shows unlimited data as of now (day 3) I will keep everyone posted. I was searching for the info and couldn't get a clear answer so i decided to be the guinea pig. Wish me luck in not having a surprise bill or losing unlimited!

Can you go to speedtest.net and run a couple of tests, and compare them with what you're getting with ThunderBolt. Especially the latency. Also which market are you in?

I just cut down my sim and put in my Tab..Run a speed test and got a ping of 67 ms, download 19.42 and upload 2.32. Bout the same speeds as the thunderbolt but with better ping.

EDIT: Run some more tests and the speeds are 30+ now :O ping is still around 60 ms. WOW. Lots better then the thunderbolt. This is all with "two bars" of 4G.

Just got my AirCard and swapped SIM from my thunderbolt, and after some difficulties setting it up it's amazing how much better the performance especially latency is comparing to my smartphone unless USB tethered.

happy to report i just got my bill, no additional usage charges. had sim in tab for about 2 1/2 3 weeks of the bill cycle, used only 500mb of data to be safe, but bill reports same as always unlimited data and same price. So looks like we are good for now

edit; i think someone asked what market i was in. I am in NYC.
