Nice. Hopefully someone can come up with something a little more concrete than "Coming Soon". I'm getting tired of waiting for a decent Android tablet with cellular connectivity.

Nice. Hopefully someone can come up with something a little more concrete than "Coming Soon". I'm getting tired of waiting for a decent Android tablet with cellular connectivity.
Looks like a nice device.
Not sure if I'm ready to jump on the tablet band wagon yet. Don't see me carrying around a tablet vs laptop. Also not convinced I would need 3g version (4g media hype) as I have 6 gig data on my phone (and I have it everywhere I am) and I never go over 2 gig with a little bit a tethering.
If I didn't travel I'd agree with you. But traveling with a tablet that I can swap SIMs and activate a 1-month chunk of data on is cheaper than trying to activate my phone (with data) and then tethering. But it's getting harder and harder to wait so I may end up with a WiFi-only tablet just so I can get rid of this damn iPad.
Wirelessly posted (Nexus S: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-gb; Nexus S Build/GRJ22) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)
I'm kind of underwhelmed with those specs. What is with the low camera resolution and limited internal memory? I feel that it should be at least as good a camera as the fascinate series.
Folks,
I am more intrigued by the Galaxy Tab 8.9.

I wonder what the Team Web Store pricing will be.![]()
I see your point. The camera specs don't bother me at all. I've got a decent SLR and an 8 MP camera in my phone. The odds of me ever using the camera on the tablet are pretty slim. As for the memory, my hope is that Telus will also carry the 32 GB model. And of course, I believe that the 4G version of the Galaxy Tab has an SD card slot (but I don't know that authoritatively).
One thing I really like about 3G/4G tablets is that they are great for tethering. Assuming they ship with the necessary software they hotspots for hours and hours because they come with large batteries.
Of course if they're replacing a laptop (which many are) then the above point isn't as valid.
So still no release date for this tablet but I see now that Telus has it listed on their website in the Tablets section:
http://www.telusmobility.com/en/ON/s...etsSSGalaxyTab
Sadly, they only have the 16 GB model listed. Here's hoping that they also make the 32 GB available. Of course, if it comes SIM-locked from Telus then I'll be looking elsewhere to purchase. But now that I have the 6 GB data plan, the $10 add-on to allow me to pool the data usage between my phone and this tablet might make sense.
I see your point and, for the most part, agree with you. But there are situations where the option to pool the data between two separate devices for $10 (or whatever) makes sense. My wife often takes our iPad and uses it (on 3G) while nowhere near my phone. Thus, tethering is not an option. If you're the type that would keep a $35/month tablet data plan active at all times, then the $10/month sharing option represents a $25/month savings.
Having said all that, it doesn't look like Telus actually offers that anyway. When I follow any of the links on their page related to sharing data, it just gives me pages describing how to activate a WiFi hotspot on your phone and share the connection. Perhaps it is only Bell/Rogers that offers data pooling.
But to get back on topic: I really hope that the 3G Galaxy Tab will ship soon.
Since Telus has yet to actually release their first cellular tablet, one would assume they will add a data sharing option on launch.
The use case of a tablet that is not always in the same place as the phone is a good example. For me the battery life issue is a big one as well - a tablet tethered to a phone will always burn out the phone battery first, even when the tab has plenty of life left in it. Except maybe in the case of a Playbook tethered to a BB since RIM designs it for battery life. A tab with its own radio is keeping your phone battery alive longer.
