How do i go about it? I am a complete noob when it comes to this. Basically from what i see on my phone i have an unlocked Rogers X10a, firmware: 2.1-update1 baseband: 2.1.55 kernel version: 2.6.29 build number: 2.1.1.A.0.6

How do i update to the new Gingerbread? i tried updating from the phone (obviously it said i had the latest software), and also tried using SE Companion....
I was looking forward to wireless tethering

go to the link i provided it has steps to identify your software but from what i heard unless your cell is unbranded you wont get the update so if you bought your cell from rogers and didnt put generic firmware u most likely will not get gingerbread update!
