razr2 v9m keypad not working

after one of last week's 100+ days, most of keypad stopped working, vol control also flakey. only on-off buttons work, charges, accepts calls, voice commands work. i hate to give this phone up. any suggestions? tried pulling battery and put in bag with desiccant. someone on net said to take it apart and cleaing contacts with alcohol will fix but not details.

Today, (10 days after the problem began) the keypad mysteriously started working after charging the phone. Fairly sure if it will not last. Loose connector somewhere? Any thoughts?

stopped working after about 1/2 hour . periodically comes back. anyone have a link or pdf that shows how to dis-assemble the v9m? not giving up yet.

Hi RMS! I'm having problems with my V9M as well. At first, the the screen did not display anything, even though the backlight was on. I thought a connector may have come loose as the phone started having this problem after an off-road adventure. At this point, I could still make calls. Now, about 3 weeks from that day, my phone only turns on-no more calling.

I took apart the screen last week and did not find any loose connectors as I had suspected. However, I'm still trying to figure out how to access the main board of the phone.

To disassemble the screen, peel off the plastic screen protector which will uncover 4 screws. You will need a Torx T5 Screwdriver. You can find more instructions here. I hope you solve your problem. Let me know how things go.

Here's a link for general dis-assembly of the razr2. Not perfect but will get you started. I still do not know which contacts to clean with alcohol as suggested in post from a couple of years ago to fix the problem. Seems to have quite a bit of oxidation inside once you get it apart.
