Can I use Prevail as a wifi hotspot (tether) out of the box with pay as you go plan?

Can I use Prevail as a wifi hotspot (tether) out of the box with pay as you go plan? Or does this require "rooting" the device. I interested in using it for the .35$ per day unlimited data plan or $10/month. Would be a nice backup device.

I have searched the threads but no clear definate answer.

As far as I have heard the prevail can not be placed on the pay as you go plan.

That being said you can only get wifi hotspot, or wireless tether on a rooted prevail.

i got the Prevail a couple days ago its on the 50 unlimited plan cuz i want shrinkage, ported from Sprint.

its rooted with wireless tethering now BUT the max speed i get from it on my laptop is .83 mbps =( and thats in nyc metro with all bars signal.
