I fought with this too until I got it figured out, now it's super easy:

    step 0: root your phone
    step 1: install this: https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result
    step 2: run "ROM Manager"
step 3: select "reboot into recovery"
step 3a: press the home key after it's rebooted
step 4: use the volume buttons to select "install to zip"
step 4a: press the back button to select
step 5: after that completes, use the volume buttons to select "reboot phone" and the back to select

Thanks for the info. I don't see the install to zip option. I've got Reboot System Now, Apply sdcard:/ update.zip, Wipe Data?Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, and Download nb0 from sdcard.

The bolded one, I didn't remember the exact wording.

Ah, ok thanks. A few quick questions. I won't have to do the clockwork mod if I go this route? Is that the factory update? Will it wipe my phone? If it does I'll wait till this weekend so I can set the phone back up.

"clockworkmod" is the creator. You don't need to do anything else. No, it is not the factory update. No, it will not wipe your phone. It just adds/replaces the files in the .zip file.

Ok, cool. Just one more question. How do you back up your phone before you do this?

E:signiture verification failed Is what I get.

Probably should do factory reset and do it all from scratch.

I just don't get why so many people keeps hijacking technical threads.... If you are bored, just return the phone.....

Is the lock faster, or just more accurate? Trying to decide if it is worth swapping mine out. The long gps lock is my main complaint.

I haven't seen any empirical differences. GPS is unreliable as hell, meaning sometimes it works sometimes it takes forever to lock, sometimes it just spins its wheels and goes nowhere.

I have two triumphs in the house so I often use both to compare, one is rooted, several system changes - other is about as stock as it gets.

Both, now 30 seconds is the average expected time for a reasonable lock. Old phone to new is like night and day GPS wise. Testing with GPStest, not google maps.

    Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Android; Opera Mini/6.1.25577/25.729; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54)

    Just wanted to mention a brief GPS experience;

Sitting in a building and could only find ONE satellite. I walked outside and let the phone do it's thing with GPS test. Found 11 satellites in under a minute. I walked back inside the building and it stayed locked. dropped to 7 satellites.

Without any hacks or alterations to the phone.
