It is my understanding that you have to format the new card first then if your ringtone file system is the same as the new phone's file system you can just download the ringtone. I did mine the easy way, I let the Verizon store do it. The guy I used knew how to change the file system from the old phone to the new phone. I would just bring the phone and your old card and your new card to the store and let them do it.
Greg7 ..... You are so correct! The only thing I dislike about the C2 is the fact you cannot add color or one of your photos to the outside display without losing the clock. Bad move on Samsung's part. You can change the color of the time display just not the background. Those silly-looking time displays just don't suffice.
LG allowed this in all their clamshell devices. It was fun using a photo of your choice behind the front time display. However, with all the problems I had with my past two LG flips, (8360 and the Clout) this Samsung is a welcome change.
jlpicard; - I just got my Convoy 2 in today and loading the pictures on vis the USB. I had to order a new micro card old phone had mini card. Question, when i get the new Micro card, do I just place it in the phone and connect via the phone to PC to load my old ringtones? Thanks for your help. acdiver
That is what I did, I tused the micro card from my Convoy 1, didn't have to format, but perhaps you will need to do that first with a brand spanking new card as mentioned above.
As to altering the outside screen color, I think we will have to pursue this with a good old fashioned Seem Edit! YaY for the good ole' cell phone hacking days.
I started this Convoy 2 discussion in August. Still love everything about it. However since 10/5/11 I have had a major issue with the C2 not communicating correctly with VZW's Backup Assistant. I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
When I add, update or edit contacts via the VZ website, instead of sending a signal to the phone updating any changes, it sends a text message with some funky letters and numbers. It subsequently does NOT update the site or the phone. Quite simply, I have the Verizon engineers stumped---they can't figure it out. I am on my 2nd replacement Convoy 2 in a week and still the problem persists. My contacts are all out of whack.
Any other Convoy 2 owners experiencing anything similar?
How to turn off startup/ shutdown tones on the Samsung Convoy 2?
It was easy on my old LG, which was lighter, more compact, and I could have my own wallpaper displayed on the front screen behind the clock. Turned the thing off in church today- it was so loud I may as well have just left it on and risked taking a call! I don't need a dam startup/ shutdown tone!
Not to worry, my friend. You can indeed turn off the "Power on/off" tone.
Simply go to Setting & Tools from the main menu
..then "Sounds Settings"
..under Sounds Settings scroll to #8 Power On/Off
..simply choose "Power On" or "Power Off"
Wow,thanks frayway- that was super-easy. I can't believe I couldn't find that before- seems like I went through the whole sound menu 5 or 6 times. Much obliged.
System files 2 convoy apparently different from caravan. There is no evidence of BREW/10889/Mr. to put ringtones in. Anyone with an idea which are, or how to install your own ringtones via USB? Bitbim finds the phone with no problem.
frayway: Just had my Convoy 2 a week, and just discovered this forum. I had the exact same problem until I went to the phone's apps and made the backup assist automatic. Then the sync worked to update the phone with changes made on the VZ website.

anyone know how to get the Convoy 2 to tether to a laptop so it can be used as an "analog" modem for an RS-232 connection? My systen recognizes it as a USB modem, even looks like its dialing the number, but it never actually dials the number.
The Convoy 2 can be used as a modem for your laptop to access the Verizon Network. Works quite well. Not sure what you mean by "analog" modem, though. Give Verizon Wireless tech support a call: 800 922 0204
hi all. ive been looking into this phone for a bit because im looking for a phone that take a beating. i talked to some people who had it and their main issue is that the front buttons constantly pocket text people. what id like to know is if you can turn off the front buttons or give it a stronger lock than just pushing one of the buttons. so far, no one has figured out if it is possible... thanks guys.
I have just bought the Samsung Convoy 2. I love it, however, I am not sure how long the flashlight will actually last? and if it dies, will I have to get a new battery or will I be without it until I get a new phone? I love that flashlight, it's so bright and it makes it easier to read at night so I don't wake anyone up with my light.
Isn't the flashlight handy? I use it a great deal. As for your question, with the flip closed and turning it on from the front display, the light will shut off after about 10 seconds. Open the flip and it stays on for as long as you need it but yes, it will wear down the battery.
Another tip I always forget to remind folks is the rubber-like cover you can buy at your local Verizon store. Be sure to get the one specific for the Convoy 2. It comes in two pieces; clips on the back and front. But I only use the bottom one for its non-slip, good grip feature. Using both makes it too thick. My VZ store even stocks a bright orange one--perfect for contractors or folks working outdoors that tend to misplace their phone.
My wife just picked up a convoy 2 today and of course she wants her ringtones on this phone.
So starting with just taking the phone of the box how do I load her ringtones to this new phone???
I attached a usb cable to my pc and it seemed to go out and load about 3 or 4 different items to my computer ( I am running XP PRO) and it said it was ready to use but I can see it in file explorer on the computer....
Do I need special software or cable for this phone????
I have BitPim version 1.0.6 and don't see this phone model ( U660 ).
If I have to use BitPim and need to upgrade can I just run the upgrade from BitPim and it will over write my current version or do I have to delete the older and install the newer?
sorry about all the questions but I am trying to cover as much as I can in this post.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on getting her ringtones moved over......
