No I have no problem waiting, not 6.
When if the Nexus Prime comes out October or like the Nexus S I have now next March it is all good, I can wait.

So I'm really tempted to go out and buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 but am mystified by reports the Prime will be out in October. Even then it's all speculation. Some are even saying that Apple will only be releasing a 4GS in september, so does that mean Google will hold off and polish ICS even more if the iphone 5 is coming out later? So much conflicting info. It would be so frustrating to shell out all the cash only to have the Prime come out with better specs or nicer screen than the Galaxy S2. Anyone else in the same boat?

I've got a Dell Streak I've had since March or so, and I've got that gadget itch. I've been itching to pick up the Sensation 4G from Bell and unlock it; but I'm afraid of the next Nexus, or some Awesome ICS device coming out in September/October.
I'm going to wait, grudgingly...
Phone History
Nokia 6160 -> Nokia 8260 -> Siemens M46 -> Motorola V300 -> HP iPAQ 6955 -> HTC Touch -> iPhone 3G 16GB Black -> HTC Google Nexus One -> Samsung Galaxy S Captivate -> Samsung Galaxy Tab -> Dell Streak -> Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G -> HTC Sensation 4G -> Galaxy Nexus
Cells, if you don't root your phone, unless you have a burning need for a handset right this minute, I'd wait for the Nexus Prime (or whatever they end up calling it.) It will have Ice Cream Sandwich from the get go, because that will be its raison d'etre - to serve as a showcase for Ice Cream Sandwich the same way the Nexus S was a showcase for Gingerbread and the Nexus One was a showcase for Eclair and later Froyo. If you go for the Galaxy SII, based on Samsung's track record you'll be waiting a loooooong time for your Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
Of course, if you DO root your phone and put a third-party ROM on it, then all bets are off and the Galaxy SII is a fine choice. Samsung made a point of giving the Cyanogen.mod developers a bunch of free Galaxy SII's to get the Cyanogen ball rolling for their handset, and I'm sure other ROMs won't be far behind. You'll have lots of Ice Cream Sandwich-based ROMs from which to choose when the time comes to upgrade
And let's not forget that Samsung has apparently hired Cyanogen himself, Steve Kondik, to work for them. So in the future, at least, their modifications to Android will suck a lot less than TouchWiz does today.
I'm on board with waiting for the Prime but I'd really like to get some sort of indication of what frequencies it is likely to support as it has to support Wind/T-Mobile for me to grab it.
Hey if you're interested on the SGS2 I say go ahead. That is unless you are the bleeding edge type, then you're probably already set for any Nexus. Despite the sheer power, the Galaxy S2 seems to have a very different mentality than a Nexus. Its truly one of those Android non geek phones that you can recommend (assuming you got the budget) to anyone in the family.
There's always a better phone around the corner and I bet we may see Galaxy S3 even this winter.

Nexus Prime is high on my list. My nexus one is still fantastic, but getting a little short on internal storage.
I avoided the Nexus S because I dislike using Odin for rooting, and really didn't like the lack of an sd card storage. That and I bought a Behold II which was probably the worst device I have ever owned and was abandoned by samsung because they screwed the software up so bad, even they couldn't fix it. My wife's Samsung Sidekick 4g freezes randomly daily whether it needs it or not and is also a software buggy mess. After that, as a Chicago Italian, I had to declare a vendetta against samsung and avoid their products--- (it's an Italian thing, nothing personal, strictly business).
I would love to see google utilize their new acquisition Motorola for some IceCreamSandwich but if they are talking an October release for the Prime, then it is probably already in the works at Samsung, which means I probably will pass.
On the other hand, I have been developing a fondness for Miui, and they are releasing a superphone the M1, in a few weeks. Have to see what the availability of it is here in the states and how accessible/rootable it is. That might be my next one![]()
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting for the Prime. I'm hoping not to have to root the device as it won't be burdened w/ all the usual bloatware. I'm sure ICS will be rooted relatively early, but it may be a while until the boot loader is cracked and new ROMs applied.
The leaked specs of late seem to be pretty consistent. Sounds like a heck of a device to me!
Extremely interested in the Prime. Haven't really been researching since I got my N1, so will the Prime be sold directly from Google? I see that you cannot buy an S from google.com/phone. Would buying it outright from T-mobile off contract be an option?
I'm getting paranoid b/c of that recent Sprint announcement about capping wifi hotspot data: if one were to buy a Prime direct from T-mobile (or any place that isn't Google/manufacturer), would that phone be locked and restricted?
And I hope the Prime will have significant internal memory and microSD.
With regards to Sprint capping WiFi data. I would say they aren't going to do it. They've been advertising on TV a lot about how the other carriers have caps and they don't. Seems they'd be shooting themselves in the foot.
Are they possibly talking about WiFi or data in general I wonder? Would a third party app like PDANets use of bandwidth appear as WiFi or just 'data'??
Well...samsung has announced an event for october 11 where rumour has it they will announce the the "samsung galaxy nexus" which is the prime. It will likely be out in early november. I guess i'll hold off a bit! I just hope the carriers in canada don't wait too long before they get it or else i'll have to just order one from the states!

The only thing 'official' at this point is the announcement of the event. The rest is speculation.
Wait for the Nexus Prime. The stock version of Android is the most stable in my experience.
It's gonna be made by Samsung either way so both phones are great, but Google always differentiates itself when it comes to hardware design so I expect the Nexus Prime to look real nice.
I'm no fan of the Galaxy design to be honest!
Signing a 3 year contract was a very BIG MISTAKE!!!!![]()
New lg prime can i do anything like mods anything?
