ok I just cant get it to dump the ram but I tried using the default settings in the cfg files and it messed up and got stuck in a boot loop so I fixed it and put the stock image on the phone. still A000000 meid though. if anyone gets the right addresses in there cfg files for a855 please let me know.

Hello guys, I got my Droid in the mail today after hearing about this... Unfortunatly I've had some issues. I tried the file on the second post for the 2.2 A855 which is what I have and the script executes, but when I reboot the esn stays same.... Something isn't right and I think the esn adresses may be incorrect in the esn.cfg file and was wondering if someone would be able to find the adresses for a 2.2 A855 Droid.

I installed Cyanogen v7 2.3.7 rom on mine now and redid the files like on post 2 and added the meid to mid.cfg and the pesn (calculated) to esn.cfg and put the files were they go and installed autostart app and made sure all permissions were right and it reboots now without getting stuck in the reboot loop but the meid is still the zeros so I think the addresses are still not right for the a855 like the other person said. I tried getting my Droid in terminal mode with the new rom and now it doesnt even work for HW Virtual Serial port but the pc can see the phone like it is in terminal mode so I cant try to find the addresses now. I hope someone can help find those addresses and post them. I wanna get this phone on my Cricket account.

I would try going to 2.2 and use the files because on diff. versions of Android the addresses change. And same for AOSP, so try doing rooted Motorola 2.2. I had no luck, but maybe you will.

I just realized that the files on the first page were for the Droid X, not the Droid so that's why it doesn't work, So if someone would be kind enough to find the addresses.

The more I looked at it the more I realized what a simple hack it is... every period of time, write that esn to such and such addresses in regular memory. Too simple, any memory editor could do it. Well... there is a memory editor for android, GameCIH. OG droid users might could test it out. I haven't tried it since we have the x addresses. Been wondering if I should write a scanner/writer myself, but I'd rather like a way to write to eeprom instead.

Edit: sorry also heres a link to the newer verison: GameCIH2

After reading everything I am still not sure how to scan for the addresses. I have cdma 3.8 and can connect to the phone just not sure of what to do next. I have a droid 1 a855 that I am working on. Any information on how to scan would be great. Lets keep this alive.

    Thanks

Note: I do not have an a855, this is a general post
After connecting (some phones in diag mode) go to memory tab. Note start/end addresses. The ESN lies in a few places in memory. You want to dump a binary file of phone memory. For droidx 2.3.3, these addresses lie between 3c 0000 and 6f00 0000. To be safe other models may wish to extend these ranges. You do not want eeprom, just regular memory. Click "read" and CDMA workshop will read the phones memory from start to end. This may be interrupted, fail in various places, not start, whatever. It takes a few tries generally. After you have the dump, open the file in a hex editor (like hex workshop). ESN in hand, search for the hex values but remember to convert big endian->little endian e.g., if your esn is 8d7c6b5a, you want to search for 5a6b7c8d. Where that 5a occurs + your initial offset in cdma workshop is where this value lies in memory. Each one of those (there should be 4) should go into esn.cfg. e.g. you started at 3c0000, then find the value at 1234, then the first entry in esn.cfg should be 3c1234.

I followed the directions and the phone reports the IMEI I programmed into the CFG files. I was able to activate the phone on Verizon, update the PRL but when I tried to make a call - it wouldn't let me. It said it couldn't authenticate my phone. FYI - I used the IMEI from my legit Verizon phone. Pretty cool anyway!! Thanks for all the hard work! BTW - I also am on a Droid X (both phones) and used RDS Lite to SBF .596 on it and then rooted it.

For it to work you would have to be rooted and have atleast root explorer to change the permissions of the files needed.
Here are the files i used:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MLPRFBMB

    Copy emd em-droid and esn.cfg to /data
Change the permissions of em-droid and esn.cfg to rwxr-xr-x
*make sure u go into esn.cfg and where it says [NewEsn]=0x00000000 u put in the esn you want to repair
Go into data and make a new folder named opt
Copy emd and autostart.sh to /data/opt
Then install autostart.apk that came with the files
Go into /data/opt and run the script autostart.sh
Reboot the phone and superuser should ask for permission for a program accept and it should be done
