Latest leak is claiming it will be called Droid Prime and launch in October. I don't think you can call it 100% confirmed yet as Samsung and VZW have said nothing at all official about it, but as far as Verizon is concerned I think this is the actual OG Droid followup as it seems it will be the first all Google software device on VZW since that one and will probably be the first ICS device just as OG Droid was the first Eclair device. I can believe this also as I don't know why VZW wouldn't want an exclusive on the 2.x to 4.x Android switch like they did from 1.x to 2.x.

Now will this be better than Droid HD?? That's a tough one! The Droid HD looks pretty nifty in many respects and wouldn't be surprised if VZW has had it's sights on an exclusive for the next Nexus for awhile and that is why we are getting so many extreme phones at the same time. Everyone offering up options for the next Nexus may have went ahead and developed competing phones anyhow. There seems to be claims they are all 720p handsets even so maybe there is something with ICS that makes that resolution preferable somehow??
Basically I am betting Vigor, Droid HD, and Droid Prime were all intended as Nexus devices, but Droid Prime maybe won googles ICS launch. Would be interesting if they all got ICS soon after the Prime so VZW had various ICS devices as exclusive for a bit.

jasaero makes an interesting point about the other phones being the proposed Nexus devices that didn't make the cut. if that were to be the case, the DHD would seem to be a pretty strong device in its own right. and given my personal affinity for Moto devices, the DHD is a top contender for my next device. as long as the DHD will be out before the end of the year, i will hold off on any purchase and compare the Prime and DHD side by side.

It's going to be a tough choice choosing between this, the htc vigor, nexus prime, and iPhone 5 (unless the latter ships without LTE). My opinion of moto and their hardware has faltered since the droid x.

it's down to the Prime and DHD for me. you take HTC's history of battery-life problems, and add a HD screen and LTE (2 of the biggest batt suckers)?!?! no thanks on the vigor. iP5?!?! nuh-uh....

Back on topic, I love everthing about a Nexus handset no matter who makes it. They are the perfect piece of hardware/software right out of the box in my opinion
