That's good evidence it isn't pentile. If it just seemed more vivid with blacker blacks and brighter colors than Bionic that would be another sign it really is AMOLED as the pentile LCD's seem better in those respects than standard LCD even though they look pixelated. Seems likely it is actually AMOLED, but would really be curious who the supplier is.
Now all we need is release dates for spyder and D4.
as long as it's "before the end of 2011" for the Spyder, i don't really care what the exact release date is...
Sorry if this has been mentioned already but does the spyder have blur or is it a stock android device?
fone sex you must have a good friend there, those final phones are under tight wraps. Big things are expected of this phone.
Didn't that already get confirmed? If not, than here you go. It is not pentile. Off the top of my head I can only think of one more phone with a pentile display.
LOL, all kinds of leaks today. What did you think of the keyboard? Nice huh? And it is really thin for a phone with a keyboard. Maserati is the phone I am waiting for, I like keyboards.
Not sure what you call "confirmed" on an unreleased/"not supposed to exist" phone? Good to hear on the Pentile, so long as the last one isn't Droid4.
I'm with you on the keyboards.
Is there a reason the keyboard phones are probably going to max out at ~4" rather than the 4.3-4.6" we are getting to on nonkeyboard phones? Is landscape in those sizes just consider outside of thumb reach for too many on G and H? I have bigger hands than average so can't really gauge if that sorta size change makes much difference for the smaller end of the spectrum so much as 4.5-5" would be perfect for me in landscape.
I will actually probably just give up on having a keyboard so I can get a phone with a bigger screen. I would actually like a 5" plus phone ala the Samsung Note, but will settle for almost 5". Do find it a bit odd Moto decided to let 4.3" be the largest phone screen size in general apparently. The 4.3" on Spyder and ~4" on Maserati would be my only real complaints about them from what we know. Maybe they will goto 4.5 with buttonless ICS devices?? Really can't complain too much in the end as I am sorta in an extremity of the market probably.
fone sex is the new rock star : ) thanks brother for all the great info!
Sussuro is the new Winston!

This is gonna be my LAST rumored, pre release thread I EVER look in!!
This year....
Thanks fone and Susurro for the info. Was it just amazing coincidence that I didnt have the money to get the Bionic when it launched? Hmmmm...lol
Getting more info on this and the Droid 4 has me....playing the waiting game....
Lost interest on the Droid Prime. Even tho the GS2 seems to be an amazing phone, if the Prime doesnt have an OMAP, I think its gonna have a Snapdragon. The same reason T Mo wanted the Snapdragon: higher speeds for their LTE network. For some reason the Exynos is "limited" to to 20Mbps down according to articles.
Yea...I quoted limited cuz thats faster than some folks home ISP..lol
Anyway...LTE and thinner than the Droid X? Nice..
I don't mind the Pentile on the Bionic that much, but it does get annoying when watching videos. Glad to hear that the Spyder will be 720p non-pentile, but still not sure if it's LCD-TFT or AMOLED?
It was only a matter of time until there was a 4G version of the Droid with keyboard. Too bad the Spyder and Maserati don't have the same size screen.

I honestly have mixed feelings about that. There are some clear benefits to Pentile with regard to brightness and battery consumption.
I have been of the opinion that the main complaint about Pentile screens would be a non-issue once pixel density got high enough. A 4.3 - 4.5 inch 720P screen would have a pixel density of about 341 - 326 PPI respectively. This, from what I have read, should make any "pattern visibility" issues non-existent for all but a very few people.
Personally, I am hoping for TFT-LCD. I know a lot of people love the SAMOLED displays, but I think there are as many potential drawbacks as there are advantages to this display type:
1. Oversaturated colors (some people LOVE this look, but it drives me crazy).
2. White point shift with brightness change (goes from warm to cool as the brightness increases)
3. Screen burn-in potential (I know this isn't as bad as on early displays, but still a concern)
4. Color shift over time (Since it is an organic material, the 3 primary colors age and fade at different rates, causing the color to shift as the display is used/ages).
