HTC Evo 4G or HTC Evo 3D?

I have been using the Motorola Droid (original one through Verizon) for the past year and a half. When I signed up with Sprint (its cheaper), I ordered the Motorola Photon because I really liked the interface on the Motorola smartphones but the Photon has an issue making and receiving phone calls so I'm looking at other phones. The two I am stuck between are the HTC Evo 4G and HTC Evo 3D. The Evo 4G has been a solid phone as it was released back in June 2010 but I've been hearing it has issues since the latest Gingerbread update. The Evo 3D is much newer, has a faster processing speed, same size as the original Evo and still 4G speed. I could care less about 3D. All I'm interested in is the faster processer speed and the fact that its a year newer than the original Evo 4G.

Any help deciding would be appreciated! Thanks!

I switched to Sprint from Verizon July 5 (best move I ever made!) and I have the Evo 4G...I LOVE IT. I have had no issues since the Gingerbread update.

You can’t go wrong with either, but get the 3D . I purchased the original Evo a week after in launched, then upgraded to the Evo 3D on launch day. Both are awesome phones, but since it’s a year newer, the Evo 3D is a year better. It’s faster and snappier then the original, battery life is much better, there’s more RAM and Sense 3.0 rocks. If the additional $100 for the 3D is not an issue, take the Evo 3D, if cost is an issue and you want to settle for the original, you won’t be disappointed with that either.

Thank you both for your responses! I think I will go with the 3D. Like Steve said, its a year newer, faster, and someone else is buying. lol.

    Thanks for helping!

The thread is about 5 months old so I would think they have purchased on. Too bad because the Evo One is about to be released. But then that is no surprise since everyone with the Evo is just coming off of their contract.

If I was still w/Sprint, this summer's choices are just too good. EVO One, SGS III are insanely fast.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus • Maguro 4.2.1 ROM
HTC EVO • Decks Reloaded .500
Toshiba Thrive • Pio's Baked Black Bean 4.1.2 ROM
B&N Nook Color • Mirage Kang 7.2 ROM
Samsung Galaxy Prevail • Half a**ed ROM
HTC EVO Shift 4G• MikRunny ROM
LG 500G • Stock (backup phone)

Yes and no for me. I was really looking forward to the Evo One, which is now officially the Evo 4G LTE. But.....with a permanent 2000mah battery I don't think that will work for me unfortunately. My wife's phone is a Samsung Epic which has been a horrible phone because Samsung takes sooooo long for updates, and that phone still has issues that need fixed. Samsung seems to release a phone and then forget about it. I would bet that they will stop supporting the SGS2 (if they haven't already) since the SGS3 is about to be released.

So I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is not dependent on Samsung for updates and has a removable battery. No micro sd though. Maybe HTC will release another high end phone with a removable battery? I'll keep my fingers crossed. My contract is up in October so I have some time.
