You can root it now. I have been using GB for a few months and it was worth it for me. Rooting was a bigger deal for me since i could use my sdcard as ext storage for my apps. I currently have 134 apps installed, but I need to uninstall some unused junk. Keep in mind that it will void your warranty. I bought a used one to root and kept my original as my backup.

I actually have rooted several desires mostly 2.1s, but a few 2.2s. Unrevoked is used for 2.1 and alpharevx then Unrevoked for 2.2. I use the guide on teamuscellular.com under the desire then development. The thread with rom lists will provide more info.

Anybody that could root mine for me for a small fee? I'm not worried about voiding any warranty as I'm eligible to upgrade and holding out for one of the new phones this fall. I'm in S WI. Thanks....

It's not that complicated. You can certainly do it yourself. Don't throw away your money.

I have my desire rooted and want to address the memory issue. Any suggestions how to free up memory so I don't have to have that Damn warning anymore?

I would recommend to load a custom ROM like Oxygen or CyanogenMod 7 which will erase everything on your phone. You will need to backup everything first then load your ROM. Depending on the ROM you will need to install support for EXT3 Partition this will allow you to use space on you SD card regardless of the app supporting SD. At one time I had over 143 apps loaded on my Desire.

    See http://www.teamuscellular.com/Forum/...php?f=72&t=178 for CyanogenMod

    See http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=76 for Oxygen

Thanks. I installed cyanogenmod 7 and it appears that I can move all installed apps to the SD card without partitioning the SD card. Is that functionality built in cyanogenmpd 7 now?

That feature is available on the all of the custom ROMs. The ability to have the apps use the space on the on the SD card automatically is the add on you might look in to is Kali's DATA2EXT (Data2SDext.zip). It depends on the method you used, so you might have already loaded the feature, but if you didn't the as long as you are using cMTD at about 100, 5 then you would already have additional room for apps.

Data2SDext would allow you to have up to 1GB of space on your phone for apps. The phone would see this as internal memory available and you would never have to move an app to SD.

    Hope this makes sense.
