I have been running gingerbread on my older Desire, and recently rooted my wife's newer Desire with the Revolutionary S-off method. (Thunder Sense V1 Rom) Worked great. Now her phone has developed a problem with the antenna. She has no bars at all, and now I'm trying to figure out how to get it back to stock to get another one sent to me.
From what I'm finding out, these newer models are having problems with the internal antenna connection, so think really hard about rooting if it is still under warranty.
