Thumbs up the razr V3: a view from the rear view mirror

To say that this phone more than any others made me a "motorola guy", is an understatement. I've owned three of them in the past. I've hacked and re-flashed them many many many times.

Now years later after walking away, I placed my order for a v3xx on ebay, as my nokia n900 sits in a vat of rice trying to recover from a hurricane induced hardware failure.

Sure maemo is a great OS. sure the n900 had some spify hardware. But really did I need all that. Did I need the single day of battery life. Did I really need a mini laptop in my pocket.

the razr was great, it was easy to hack, it was simple, it did everything you needed, not much else, battery could be stretched to around a week, it was sleek, and wasn't awkward or clumsy in your pocket. Its as durable and rugged as these damn things get(without being the durable and rugged kind), standard mini-usb charger, tethering and synchronizing is easy.

The slightly improved v3xx GSM model gets 3.6 mbs/second 3G, which is going to be GREAT tethering, just in case I really need mobile internet.

I loved, and still love, the RAZR. My father has one.

As a matter of fact, after his LG Xenon bit the bullet about two months ago, he went back to using his V3 RAZR he's had since 2004.
