I got the same exact issue on my Sensation with Chatr but my time delay stamp is 4 hours behind. I called Chatr and they claim it's the phone, but when I called HTC technical support they said it's the carrier (they said if you are able to send and recieve texts then the problem is the carrier). My problem didn't exist until I ported my number from Telus to Chatr. If you google text message time delay you will notice a trend, it's all Rogers related carrier issues (e.g. Rogers, Fido, and Chatr). Rogers (and other Rogers related companies have this issue), it's NOT the PHONE!! I fix is to download SMS Time Fix from android market or nag Chatr (like how I did) until they fix it. I prefer the latter as I don't need more software running on my phone to slow it down, it's a Rogers/Chatr/Fido issue, so fix it.
I had two phones and understand what you guys are going through. I think it is the phone which is the problem. My new LG A133 had no problems at all(all my text n voice messages had the correct time stamp). I know it's expensive thing to do but i suggest u chuck the problem phone or sell it.
I just went through this as well. I believe Rogers time tags text messages in GMT and the Rogers flavoured firmware in it's phones corrects this back to the correct local time. Unlocked devices from others networks don't have the time correction, so text messages times are off by several hours.
I had a Rogers branded Nokia phone that showed the correct time for text messages. I debranded the phone by loading the generic version of the Nokia firmware and now the time on messages is wrong
To correct on Nokia, I manually set the time zone to Iceland time (GMT-1) and then manually set the time to the correct value.
I'm guessing that Rogers deliberately does this so that people living near the boundaries of the time zones will always have the correct time on messages, regardless of where the cell tower they are connect to physically sits (i.e could be in a different time zone)
