I activated a thunderbolt on PPC. It isn't easy to do, however, others claim better results (with no data working).

Activate the MEID over the phone, then ask the rep for the MIN#. There is a manual way to input MIN # for samsung phones (i dont know it but search) and input that. You SHOULD be able to get voice and texts to work by doing that process.

If you want data to work, you need a speacial program and need to reroute the way the phone collects data. Basically by bypassing the 4g card..
Is there a setting to turn off 4G in the standard network settings? Also, try to remove the 4g sim card.

Im buying a 4g phone for my girlfriend (shes on verizon)

Before i set it up for her, I might play with it a bit on my spare line, see what I can figure out.

Not sure which one im getting, probably an LG.

Also, hopefully, by the time the droid 4 comes out, we can get this figured out... i really really want it.
Disclaimer: If this is an answer to a TECHNICAL QUESTION, then MY ANSWER is correct, even if its contradicting something that a tech support rep, or anyone else said. I am not giving you the answer YOU WANT, I'll give you the answer I know is CORRECT.
If this is about CARRIER POLICY, then you should probably be aware that carriers change their policy unexpectedly, and inexplicably. Even if the answer is correct when posted, it could very well be wrong in a day, or week.

Samsung Charge on Page Plus network

So I just bought the samsung charge after reading online and thinking I could activate it with page plus network, but I'm losing hope as I try. Has anyone done it? If so, please share how it is done.

I don't see that it is possible now that I have one and tried all the things I've read, and here's why. You can't do the OTA programming until you've called PP and had them link your phone to your account by giving them the MEID#. Well, when you pull out the battery, there's no MEID# on this phone. I did the whole, unlock the hidden menu and show the MEID#, but when I called it in to PP, they said it was an invalid MEID# (it doesn't start with an "a", etc.) So until you can get past that hurdle, it doesn't matter if you can set it to only work on 3g.

Btw, I already have another phone on pp and know the MIN and Phone number if that helps - that I'm trying to transfer over to my new phone.

Can anyone help or give me some insight? Please, I don't want to sell my new phone. Hurry.

poobah88, I don't think you've searched thoroughly. Do a little more searching to make sure this is correct, but I think I've read that if you leave one digit off of the IMEI, that PPC will accept it as an ESN/MEID. Good luck.

I thought it was the last digit, but it was in a post at HoFo, so hopefully you can find it to confirm.

Set the phone to CDMA/WCDMA only mode, remove the sim, power on, and it should be able to *22890 normally.
When I try inputting *228, it just says that my sim card is activated on roaming. How can I get the fail notification? Do I need to get a new SIM card? Perhaps the one I have is still active from the person I bought it from??? Please help.

I did a quick HoFo search for "IMEI" and found this. Hopefully the Charge is similar.

Thanks again. I tried using the secret menu but the MEID listed under the secret menu isn't a valid MEID according to page plus. (I guess it's too many digits - 17.) I then tried activating it without the last digit of the IMEI and it seemed to be the right amount of digits (14), but then I couldn't activate via the OTA part because when I enter *228, it just says my SIM is activated with roaming (or something like that.) I went down to my local Verizon store, where the cool guy gave me a new SIM. I put in the new SIM and tried entering *228 but it now says SIM is not registered. I'm beginning to think no one has ever successfully got a Samsung Charge to work with Page Plus wireless network and it's bumming me out. I may have to sell this cool new phone. Any other ideas would be welcomed.

BTW, you can go into setting and change it to CDMA only (with 3 sub-choices: Home only, automatic A, or Automatic B. Not sure which one to choose.) But even with the CDMA only on, it still won't work without the sim.

    Samsung Charge

This is just an idea, I do not know if it would work or not. You may want to activate it on Verizon's Prepaid service. While that sim card is active you may be able to activate it on page plus, again no idea if it would work, just a thought.

Unfortunately it won't work because Verizons prepaid isn't the same programming as page plus (*22890) - and you would still need the non-existent MEID#.

If that sim was activated with Verizon's prepaid for that phone, wouldn't it then be a registered sim and after the plan expires you may be able to activate with Page Plus.

I think that it would have to activated on verizon first to get that sim registered with that phone. Then you may be able to activate on Page Plus. Again I am unsure, but just suggesting.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't work. I had a valid registered sim with the verizon network. THere's still no way to register on page plus. There were many aspects that made it impossible. i.e. even if you had an activated SIM that enables you on 4g, page plus needs to work without sim on 3g only. Also, to enable manual activation (according to other posts) you need to fail 3 times activating it with *228, which you cannot to under gingerbread, so you would need to backdate to froyo just to manually activate. Then you would need an MEID number which the charge does not have. I heard you could use the IMEI number minus the last digit but I didn't try. Thanks for all the attempts at help.
