Motorola EX124G - Can I view the phone folders on my computer?

I have a Tracfone Motorola ex124g, and I'm wondering: Can I put stuff onto my phone via the phone folder, or can I only put files on my phone via the micro sd card? I plug the phone into my computer, but it won't 'recognize' it or show it on 'my computer.' I ordered a card, but the phone has folders on it's internal memory as well. Can I put stuff in those folders via the computer or what?

    Thank you for your help.

When I plug the micro sd cable in the phone the first thing that happens is that the phone gives me a choice between mass storage and communications port. I always tap the mass storage and then the computer pops up a window that gives me a choice between the micro sd card that it calls "3.7 gig removable media" or the phones memory which it calls "Motorola phone". You can of course then pick which one you want and move files to and from either. Sometimes the computer just opens the sd card and fails to give me the choice. I don't know why.

So the quick answer is yes.

The last point you should know is that my computer runs Linux. In particular it uses Kubuntu and not some flavor of Windows. I have a dual boot but I've never tried to load the phone from Vista so I can't help you there. Maybe you need a driver????

Another point my USB cable micro plug that goes into the phone takes a lot of force to seat it. If you just push it in it will charge the phone but then if you push it all the way in hard the phone then recognizes the USB connection and asks how you want to use the connection.

    Hope this helps.

    Greetings,

Just to add just a bit to what Junk_Jim said...

I am running WinXP, when I plug in the cable from the PC to the 124 (and yes, the first number of times it takes a bit of preassure) I am asked what I want to do for the two drives; the 8gb micro SD or the phones memory. I am then free to manipulate files on either the card or the phone; in fact, before I set the card as the default location for photos to be stored, this is how I got them off the phone onto my PC instead of having to email myself like I did with my old moto 376g.

NOTE: Make sure that the cable you are using is a true Data cable; one aftermarket charger I purchased had a removable USB cable, but it turned out that it was only good for charging; when connected to the computer it did not 'see' the device and try to open it. I was able to get a Genuine Motorola charger, with a specified removable Data cable HERE on AMAZON and it works great.

    Have a Magical Day!
