Which root method did you use? Is there a true 1 click yet? Do I have to be at my home PC to download stuff? At work, so can't research too much, but I'm itching!
So now that it was so easy to Root (took 5 minutes), how about overclocking the Bionic?
On the Droid X, I used a program called "DX/D2 Overclocker" but not sure if it will work here.
Edit: I just tried that ovcerclocking app, and it says "You aren't on a DX or X2. What are you doing here?"
Guys just have little patience...all these things will come. We need to rewrite all of those things to work on this phone. Recovery will be key and allow many other options safely.
Right now, without firmware, root is very dangerous. Please proceed cautiously until we have a full recovery solution.
I was not criticizing anyone, just relaying my experience. besides, I have never before rooted a phone the first day I bought it.
setCPU works for me after rooting, but I cannot exceed 1 GHz or below 300 MHz.
I agree on the need for caution, seeing as I got use to clockwork recovery.
Did not work for me. Going to try the one I used before.....
Ok, not able to get Root back at all!
I tried the link above for the 1-click by P3 and it didn't work.
Also tried the original Droid 3 root program (Droid 3 easy root) and also the Pete's Motorola Root tools.
All of them showed access denied when trying to copy the files.
So I uninstalled SuperUser and used Pete's program to make sure the phone was un-rooted.
Then tried to root again, and still could not by any of these methods.
I guess something must have changed in the OTA to not allow it?
Bionic is set to Charge Only and USB Debugging is checked, but I no longer get the little debug icon in the notification try, just the usb icon.
You can see the errors I get when using the P3Droid 1-click:
Bad news for me. I turned on the phone after being off for a while. I have the notification banner and nothing else. How do I remove the back cover to remove the battery?
I got the battery cover off, which will saty off for a while. I am uncertain what the problem is as I froze once again. I am uninstalling setCPU and see if it makes a difference.
Dont use setcpu at all yet. There is no benefit and it may cause issues with governor settings in the kernel.
I will say it again...be very careful with any root apps until we have a way to restore unbootable phones.
