It's no problem at all, It doesn't really matter which computer you use since all you have to do with a computer is download a few things and then transfer them to the phone. Hope it all goes well.
Would someone mind giving me a hand with this? Just got my SH7218u, it already had z4root, root explorer and superuser on it. I've downloaded all the stuff from that blog page and it's on my SD card in the phone, root explorer has superuser permissions... BUT it's all in Chinese. I have absolutely no idea how to copy/move files or change the attributes. I tried replacing it with the root explorer file from the download, but it's still in Chinese (it did replace the app, but it seems to have kept its settings). Does it have its own language settings?
There is another file manager on the phone, ES file explorer, which ius in English but it does not have superuser permissions - I tried using it to copy the apps into system\apps, but the operation failed. And I don't know how to use superuser (googling now).

Would be grateful for any help here.
Just download an English version online go to Google and find the apk, I recommend deleting the Chinese root explorer beforehand as well. Btw, if you want even more info on modding SH7218U, go to its specific thread and you will find tons of info that I and other helpful members have posted. There's even a custom ROM in the works.
Many thanks, I've replaced RE with one I can read and it was plain sailing from there. Still a few things to figure out, but I'll familiarise myself with the main thread and post in there if I need more help. Cheers!
Hey there, it's really easy tbh. Make sure you have a file manager installed on your phone, I recommend "root manager", just download it from somewhere on the net..
So I'm guessing you havn't rooted? Just get the z4root app installed on your phone and click permanent root, if I remember correctly it actually dsn't reboot your device once you root it, so just reboot it afterward and you should see an app called "superuser" appear with all your other applications.
If you have done everything correctly then you can go ahead and delete z4root since you won't be needing it anymore. The download link is at the bottom of the blog post, look at it without google translate and you can see a blue click-able link that says "download here", I can't remember if z4root is included within the package but you can easily download it elsewhere. Also, sometimes pictures are omitted with translate so do not translate the page, you really don't need to read anything on it.
After downloading the necessary apk files, make sure you have that file manager that can change permissions for a file on your phone. Now all you have to do now is get the files you downloaded and put them in a folder on your sdcard, use root manager to MOVE the files to the system/app portion of the phone, now once the files are moved into the same folder as all the other applications within your phone, hold down on the apk files you just moved and a list of options will appear, click permissions and check the boxes literally like the picture in the link after the z4root screens on the blog post, just look for a picture with some boxes that are check marked, can't miss em.
After doing that to every file that was moved to your phone (JUST THE GOOGLE APPS) reboot your phone and you'll be prompted to setup your google account. I was in a hurry writing this, so need any more questions? Just pm me.
Hi,
I did all of the above and reboot my phone. But now there's an error message which says "The application setup wizard (process com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" No mater I press "Force close" or "Report", the message keep pops up and I can't do anything else. Please help!
Thanks.
Did you make sure to change the permissions? You honestly don't even need the setup wizard, did you try and see if any of the google apps are working? If they are not, I recommend just deleting them all and doing the process over.

Because I could not download the files from megaupload, so instead I search and download the following files according to the blog:
googlecontactssyncadapter.apk
googlecalendarsyncadapter.apk
googleservicesframework.apk
googlepartnersetup.apk
marketupdater.apk
setupwizard.apk
vending.apk
I can't get the error message off the screen and could not do anything else, not even to make a call. I would want to delete them all and start over again, but the error message keeps popping up and I can't even go to the home page and run other program to delete the files. Is there another way of deleting the files?
Many thanks.
I know you can through ADB but I'm not sure what lines you would have to input. Sorry that isn't much clarification but that would be the only way to do it. You could also flash a system.img like it is written down in the guide which would fix it.
