Help! Can't Decide on new phone

Rogers is replacing my Samsung galaxy S with a phone of my choice due to the bad reception the galaxy gets.
Looking for a phone with Similar features or more with good internet Teathering options, Also better reception in a slight rural area would be nice.

I would like to stay on the Android market and im trying to avoid the samsung galaxy S2 since the problems with the first gen.

I remember I never had any problems of reception with my Galaxy S. In any case, Samsung is very good in aggressively remedying the problems with one generation, with the next. I couldn't recommend the Galaxy S. Yet I would recommend the Galaxy S2 absolutely without a doubt. The phone is that good. Does Rogers have the S2 already? I'm not sure if they do. They do have the Infuse which is somewhere between the S and S2 in generations.

The problems I have with my generic Galaxy S, none of them involves reception however. It can simply be that service of Rogers in your area just simply stinks. You have to consider that possibility.

In any case, Rogers is also offering the EVO 3D and the Optimus 3D. I'm a bit biased in choosing the HTC but the Optimus 3D is cheaper.

My Iphone 3G never had any issues in this area or the areas I would normally use it. It was pretty bad when I was loosing about 90% of my calls in Toronto with the Galaxy S and my Iphone was always running 3-5 bars and no cut outs when I did use it.

They do not carry the Galaxy S2 yet and no clue when it will be in there hands. I could possibly ask or wait but im just worried that I will run into the same type of issue with the reception on that phone

Price on the phone does not matter to me rogers is replacing it on them, they pretty much told me to figure out which Android phone I wanted and to get back to them.

This sounds to me more a problem of the network at that time you already have your Galaxy S as opposed to when you had your iPhone. Like recently after I got my EVO 3D, the network I am using is recently congested and didn't perform as well as when I had my Droid Incredible. This has completely nothing to do with the phones, actually, only that when the time I have switched to the EVO 3D, the local network is suffering from increased congestion, and likely guess what, from a vastly increased smartphone population that happened during the time of the two phones. Having said that, this is only data congestion (slow down in data speeds), it doesn't affect my voice and text which remains impeccable. (Local CDMA provider has a very attractively priced unlimited data plan, and I can see they have been moving Droids and Androids like McDonald's move burgers for over a year).

I have used the Galaxy S in three different countries, and the signal reception has been very good. The phone is with my daughter right now, and she has no complaints with it. Granted though, this is the Galaxy S i9000 with the square home button and not the Captivate type used with Rogers.

I am using my Galaxy S2 right now, and its been all bars. Suffice to say I hear very good things about the Samsung Infuse too. This is on my second line, which is on GSM.

What i can say about Samsung is that they're a great comeback kid. Last year, when I had my Galaxy S, there were moments I wanted to throw it at the wall (and did --- which is why I know that despite its plasticky construction, the phone is extremely tough). Yet today, I got my Galaxy S2, and the difference is like night and day, this has to be the very best Android phone, if not the best smartphone ever. It just devours everything even complex games, apps and web pages without a lag, complaint, bug or crashes whatsover. The OS is so tight, it seems virtually unbreakable. Even with the Touchwiz 4 overlay, the OS feels more solid and reliable than the vanilla OS on the Nexus S. This also in a way suggests that the internal electronics, particular the Exynos chip, is even more solid and bug less than the Hummingbird. No surprise, that Google wants to use this chip for the next Nexus.
