Exactly. This phone will have been out for like 6 months by the time USCC launches their 4G network. It was never intended to be a 4G phone. There's a reason it doesn't carry the same name as its Sprint counterpart.

The antennas are there but the contacts on the mainboard are missing, and the external antenna ports aren't the either. So officially, the Electrify is only 3G CDMA. Motorola and USCC screwed us pretty good.
Are you saying the phone won't work with a SIM in a non US country on a GSM network? I.e. its not a world phone as advertised.

There is working GSM on it. My son is overseas and called me today from his Electrify. Not certain about the exact chip, but GSM may be on the same chip as CDMA.

Sorry about the mis-info, should have done some more researching before posting. The Electrify does indeed have GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/HSPA+. The Qualcomm MDM6600 is a multi-mode control processor that's able to control both GSM and CDMA. I found the GSM antenna tucked under the backing plate.
I did a teardown of my Electrify to identify all the on board chips.

    Kickstand?

Is anyone else having the problem where the phone is saying the kickstand is always out. I had to disable the kickstand option to get it to return to the normal mode. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Its not a huge deal, but its more annoying that it just stopped working correctl

There is a small magnet on the inside of the kickstand. Did yours fall out? The magnet is what triggers the kickstand mode. If you take a magnet and place it where the kickstand is suppose to be when closed on the phone, it should go away. That will take tell you if it's a hardware issue.

From what I know the chances are fair to good to get ICS. We will get it not too long after Sprint gets it for the Photon 4G.

Hi. I need help. I've had my Electrify for over a week now. I rooted it successfully, and it wasn't until a couple nights ago, it froze up and rebooted. Then, it continued in a boot loop for some time. Once in a while, a magenta LED would blink. Removing the battery did not help. Eventually it'll just stop rebooting and load normally. I did a factory reset, and rebooted the phone manually 5 different times, as the bootup is where it crashes, before JuiceDefender loads.

After the reset, the phone worked fine. I rooted again and restored everything. After manually restarting a few times, it was working normally for most of today. I thought the culprit was JuiceDefender (Ultimate), possibly because the phone has its own battery manager. However, I didn't notice any correlation between installing JD and when the reboots would start. Well, this morning the battery was at 50%, then jumped to 80%, back to 50% and soon after 20%. Even so, the first time I configured JD, I used some experimental features. Did none the next time. Maybe it's just the app. Not sure if I should reset again. It takes forever to reinstall everything even with Titanium. Any help would be appreciated, or should I start a new thread? Thanks.

Guess I was just forcing apps to the SD Card with Titanium Backup that shouldn't have been moved.

    Hi all
i just got my electrify yesterday and i am really enjoying it thus far! I was trying to do some research about the Facebook app. I had a Bold before i jumped to the electrify so i was used to getting push notifications from my apps. So im curious if i am missing something. Im not getting any push notifications from facebook on the electrify. Is this a known issue or just me? Lol
    thanks in advance!

In the facebook app, go into Settings--> Check Notifications so its active. And pick what you want to be notified on (Messages, Friend Requests, Event Invites). The latest version, 1.8.2 seems to be pushing more than that (comments, likes on posts, friends going to events)) ...its like they forgot to add the new options to the settings.

Thanks for replying Stellerm. I did what yiu suggested and the notifications were all checked. It only seems to allow me to recieve notifications for friend requests, messages and event invites but not for comments or posts etc. Is this just an Android thing? I tested the notifications with a fb message and i did recieve a notification for it but nothing on comments.

It is probably FB. The app is very glitchy.
MOTOROLA Still #1 in reception and call clarity.

Also make sure you have the latest version from the Market. The comment pushing only happened with the most recent update within the last week.
