I was under the impression that Moto didn't load MotoBlur on this phone, that it's fairly basic Android with some minor changes to the dialer, and such.

Yes, clearly this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. HTC and Samsung have far more intrusive overlays and its very simple to switch from the Moto launcher...
Anyway, first post about this phone, coming from a Desire I love it: screen, battery life, accuracy of the digitizer are all vastly superior.
Two issues I've had, when I swap batteries in the morning my phone occasionally takes several minutes to connect to the network. A reboot always seems to fix it otherwise it seems to sometimes take a 3-5 minutes after the phone has fully booted up to connect to the Network.
Second issue is something that was driving me crazy on my Desire: the proximity sensor doesn't disable the phone when I hold it up to my head. I might have found a fix though by disabling the In-Pocket detection. If I re-enable it then turn my phone upside down then block the proximity sensor it locks the phone, when I unlock it it then won't turn off the screen when making a call. If turn off the auto lock feature and reboot it turns off the screen each and every time (way better then my Desire ever did!).
Edit: Add a bit more info us cellular is launching evdo rev b supposably. Lte is Q1 next year. According to a few sources I have heard from. I would also venture to guess the electrify is lte ready as the build prop is almost identical to the photon. How ever no one really knows at this moment. The board is also the same and would be the sunfire which is probably what will show in the market.[/QUOTE]
Well, that is interesting! Is there a way to tell if the Electrify is Rev B capable? And could you elaborate on the LTE issue? Do you think the Electrify could in fact be made capable of LTE with a software upgrade? Actually, I think I'd be completely satisfied with Rev B for the time being, considering what I've read about it. Thanks for your thoughts...

Unfortunately the Photon 4G is a WiMax unit and as far as I have read the FCC has not approved an LTE variant of it. They more than likely disabled the WiMax radio. LTE devices run on different frequencies than WiMax so I doubt that this will be a hidden feature to be enabled by a firmware update.
Also the 3G is Rev.A according to these specs as well...
So I'm currently experiencing a major design flaw with either the cases for the phone or the 100$ adapter dock. With the two cases I've tried, Otterbox Commuter and generic gel one from in-store, they will not fit in the dock. The dock comes with a plastic insert that can be removed in order to fit a phone that has a case but neither phone will go down far enough to get the ports connected. Anybody else notice this problem and/or have a solution or a case that actually fits with the dock?
If you live in a fringe area of reception this baby is what you need. Excellent reception even for 3G. Still on the first day with battery so don't know about that yet but moving from the mesermize to the moto is good for me.

Yeah, he obviously doesn't know what he is talking sbout.
Motoblur isn't on the Electrify (or Photon for that matter)
It is called Motorola applications platform.
Back to the Desire? After having the Electrify I couldn't even imagine going back to my Desire.
I am doubting he even had the Electrify in the first place.
Coming from a TouchPro2, this thing is amazing. The pentile screen does not bother me at all. I have to get really close and get my bifocals adjusted just right to see the pixels - lol. I was amazed at how great it looks outdoors even with full sun directly on the screen.
The first battery charge is sucking down fast, but I've been on it constantly setting it up, downloading apps, etc.

That is great info to add but there has been a debate over the rev b on a few carriers. As to if the photon supports it you can pull up the phone specs all day. There is several carriers with devices that doesn't say rev b in the specs also. Though the chipset does support it. If you search xda people do not know if support can be added with a radio update or not either which kind of sucks. That would be from some of the info I have took a look at over the past few days since hearing about it. Though comes this the photon uses the Qualcomm Mdm6600 which does support rev b according to this http://www.qualcomm.com/news/release...y-technologies
As for lte I do not know I said that there is several things that looks like it may. There is reference through out the whole dump I have of the electrify. The photon is suppose to be confirmed with having the driver for the lte modem. I never said I knew for sure, I said I would venture to guess.
As for the lte or rev b that is all the info I have so I thought I would share that little bit.
i got my electrify today, along with an otterbox defender. i had USC for years then changed to sprint 1.5 years ago and finally decided to just pay the ETF and come back to USC as sprint was stupidly slow here (east green bay). anyhoo, got the phone via UPS, got it activated, noticed it rebooted once and figured it was due to an update or something. rooted it and all was good until it started randomly rebooting again. it's done it 3-4 times so far (in the last 4ish hours). i wonder if this is the same random rebooting that plagued the photon on sprint? i'm considering exchanging it but i'm rooted. if i do a factory reset will it revert back to unrooted or does the root procedure listed earlier in this thread set it to s-off or something? i didn't unlock my bootloader or flash a recovery at all. i'm a HTC guy, i've rooted several EVOs and a few desires and a bunch of EVO shifts so i'm pretty handy with ADB but i'm very unfamiliar with motorola android phones and i don't wanna mess things up. any help is appreciated!
other than the reboots, i like the phone quite a bit. moto's skin/ UI isn't bad at all, the dialer reminds me a lot of CM7/ AOSP. the phone is pretty zippy, hasn't really slowed down at all. the otterbox is bulky, but that's to be expected from a defender. i'm pretty sure i could pound tent stakes into solid granite with my phone in this case though, i love it!
I just happened to notice that the rebate form I got with my phone doesn't even list the Electrify as a choice. You think I can just write it in?
Sent from my Motorola Electrify using HowardForums
I just wrote it in on my form and took a picture. I figure it was provided by the sales staff so I am going off the blind assumption they know what they are doing.
