    SIM Card failed to register

I got a brand new Nokia 6350 on MTS the other day and it was working great till last night, when it started displaying 'SIM card failed to register' message. I don't get any service as a result.

I tried restarting, cleaning the SIM card, removing it and putting it back in....everything. Nothing works. Friend of mine got the same phone a couple weeks ago, and his had the same problem.

He solved it by just restarting the phone.

I tried putting the SIM card into an unlocked phone, and it said 'SIM card not registered on network.'

What the hell is wrong with MTS?

Called in and customer service fixed it for me. Apparently there is a problem on their end.

FYI I had the same problem with Rogers in Ontario trying to setup my mother's new phone in the summer... it happens sometimes.

What would the issue be? It worked perfectly when I got the phone.

Cellular providers use AAA servers to keep track of cellular customers (Authentication Authorization and Accounting). For reliability they use redundant servers, if for some reason something goes wrong with the servers or if the servers decide your SIM card is bad for some reason, or someone reports the wrong phone number for a stolen phone , etc. you will get this type of message. It has nothing to do with the phone.
