Is Droid 3 *really* the ONLY purchasable (i.e: with a keyboard) Android phone on VZW?

    Seriously?

I went around the Verizon store the other day, going up to phones and physically sliding the screen to a side to see if it reveals a keyboard underneath. Only ONE phone responded to the "slide": Droid 3. Hence placing this topic here, since there's no "what phone should I buy?" forum I could find...

But... SERIOUSLY?! There's ONLY ONE phone Verizon sells that has a frickin' keyboard? That's what sold me on my LG Ally a year and a half ago: the sales rep went, "plus, there's this", flicked the screen to the side and revealed a keyboard. Sold. Now the only one with a keyboard is the Android flagship phone, the Droid. Um... why is nobody else picking up on the "feature packed phone" and like... giving their phones an input device?

Someone please tell me there's an alternative. Not that I don't like (love) the Droid 3, but... eh... I'd like to avoid spending $200 on a phone I already pay out the arse every month for...

    Droid 1, 2, and 3. lol

The 3 seems nice though. I wish it had 4G.

Oh my god, please let it be true. I'm doing an insurance replacement on my Ally now, and I'll be up for an upgrade in March-ish. I sure hope something's out by then.

I'd certainly like to see a 4G android with a keyboard.

It seems like there's a "chicken and egg" thing going on here. The best phones are being made without keyboards, so fewer people are buying the phones that do have them. Because fewer people buy phones with keyboards, manufacturers won't focus on them. I would much rather go with a Bioinic than a Droid 3, but I may be stuck if I want a keyboard.

I don't get it... there's the Devour, Enlighten, Merge also.

Unless you only mean Motorola branded phones.

I didn't realize that it was that soon. Sadly the specs don't look too impressive.

Don't forget the rumors of a Droid 4 Maserati. I realize they are rumors, but rumors often turn out to be true.

I used to think I wanted a physical keyboard too. I like the
"Touch" keyboard so much on my Droid X, that I don't even miss the buttons.

Considering how well the Droid 3 seems to be selling, it seems quite a few people prefer having a real keyboard.
