H20 CDMA Data Programming Non-Verizon Phone

I have spent a ton of time searching for this to no avail. I am trying to program my sprint samsung epic on H20 CDMA to get data to work. I have assumed they use the same user name in the flashing (mdn@vzw3g.com) as verizon. I have also assumed that mdn is the phone number. I have a verizon prl and talk and text are working. I know it is not my coverage because my droid x works with 3g on the same plan. I have used the android.zip file that is around the internet to find my prl and the instructions. Any other details needed let me know. I am giving up until I get further assistance since I am a novice flasher. Thank you for any help.

First of all, how did you get data on H20 cdma even with a Verizon device. And how did you enter the Sprint device esn into the H20 cdma system? Afaik, only Verizon devices were supposed to be allowed and they had no data. Has all this change?

I recently activated a used MotoQ9m (Verizon) on H20 cdma for my son to play around with and assumed we only had talk and text. Then I tried to send a mms and it worked.

My son then tried to go on the internet with the internet explorer browser that's on the phone and it actually worked, he was on utube with it and we got to go on facebook, etc.

I have no idea what the cost is for their paygo data though, I couldn't find any info on their site about it.
We were just using up the rest of the intial free 100 minutes we had.

Anyways I'm not guaranteeing it works, just saying it worked for us.

Verizon smartphones are known to work on mvnos with no extra need for data configurations because they do not use a proxy. Feature phones do so most of the time, a Verizon phone on an mvno will only get talk/text and mms. H20 cdma has offered mms on their plan all along but data? I've been told by their cs that they don't have. But hey if it works, why not? Maybe it's even cheaper then Page Plus ? Who knows what the rates are. I'd love to know.

Yeah, I was surprised, the Moto q9 on h20 cdma had mms and data working which I didn't expect.

And my Palm Centro (Verizon) that I activated on Page Plus only works with talk and text.

Which doesn't bother me too much since I mostly use it for text.

The paygo pricing of $10 for 120 days on PP is more suited to my usage than the $10 for 30 days on h20 cdma.

And calls are 10c min text 5 c with PP and 12 c min text 10 c with H20 cdma.

Yeah, H20 cdma has been sitting with rates that were competitive up to about two years ago . They've been largely stagnant and sadly neglected by their owners while H20 Gsm /Att mvno side gets all the good stuff (unlimited, high speed data) and takes all the bows.

This data thing helps its value a lot though with Verizon feature phones it's too much hassle to set up the web when a cheap Vz smartphone like the Q has everything out of the box working.

I mostly use H20 cdma for one time activations for guest phones because theier 100 free minutes is a much more generous trial then Page Plus's paltry 16/20 minutes, whatever it is (PPC used to be 100 too back in the day, then 60 , which was still okay but really 20 minutes for a trial is a joke. I've seen worse though. Tmobile prepaid is 10 minutes).

Thanks for posting.I wonder how much they deduct for data?

For how much, this is from their website:
Charges for Picture/Video messages sent from the U.S. to U.S. numbers are $0.35 each and an additional $0.0015 for each kilobyte used. The same rates apply to all incoming messages. Additional charges for premium messages and content apply. International Picture/Video messages from the U.S. are currently unavailable.

For a Verizon mvno to get picture messaging, I am pretty sure a data connection is needed. The data default works for all the Verizon phones I have activated. I was silly when I made this post and forgot to activate the epic. I am pretty sure I can figure it out now, but thanks for your post. And yes you can active sprint phones, just put in the meid hex when it asks for ESN.

One last comment is that the password in plain text is "vzw" without the quotes. there is some android.zip file with pageplus prl's and a guide on how to get a sprint phone to work. You should be able to find it if you search hard enough

Well, if H20 cdma allows Sprint phones that means you've just proven their byod is much greater then originally expected (by moi). It is common knowledge that clean esn Verizon postpaid phones that aren't active can be used on many Verizon mvnos like Page Plus, H20 Cdma, Mvno X Red and others but apparently, ANY properly programmed cdma device can be used (PPC, H20C and MvnoX Red all allow any cdma device at this time).
Of course there are other exceptions like Verizon prepaid devices, iphone cdma (on most mvnos), LTE/4G, Blackberry (officially banned on Page Plus) but in general, most cdma devices and definitely all non Verizon esn ones as they aren't controlled by Big Red's data base system.
Verizon prepaid however can only use Verizon devices at this time.

One thing I thought I should add that some may find interesting is that they accepts vzw iphones. One thing that puts them over pageplus. If you don't use wifi then it would probably be cheaper to just sign a contract with verizon
