    Hi Everyone!

    It's been a month, here's what's up:

I have been working on improving the overall app to make it more stable (no new features yet).
These improvements were also made in consideration of major updates planned, particularly French translation (which is now number one in my priority list) and widgets that everybody likes.

Thank you so much for your feedback and bug reports up until now (keep hitting that report button!). Also a special thanks to g00gler and John Burke (community.koodomobile.com/people/johnburke) for testing the multiple-phones feature before I could roll it out as an update.

If you feel that the app is stable enough for you, feel free to recommend it to others and rate it on the market.

Keep an eye out next week for an update on your market clients! In the mean time, here's some graph porn from my developer console this morning (https://plus.google.com/photos/10359...93700610274401)

p.s I need more testers for the phone switching feature, PM or send me an email.

    Anyone have Unlimited Minutes?

    Hi,

Users of my app [1] seem to be experiencing crashes with unlimited minutes plans.
If anyone has unlimited minutes, I would really appreciate if you could confirm if this happens to you too.

I don't have unlimited minutes, so I can't confirm it myself.

    Thanks!

I've been using your app, and so far so good.
Thanks for taking the time to develop it.

Be on the lookout at the end of today for another major update including a usage widget and settings.

    Sound awesome.

How much data will the widget use to keep itself up to date each refresh?
    Is there a selectable interval?

And will it have the option to choose which data to display?
Because I have unlimited text, but only 250 voice, I only care about seeing my voice and data, while someone else who has unlimited minutes may not care to see minutes.

Will we be notified by the market of the update?

And please please please make it selectable from a 1x1 widget and up. I only have so much room. Lol

    Hi,

The widget is 3x1. This is still an experiment, so I may try to squish in a 2x1 widget later.
The design of this widget has two parts: a shortcut to the app and the actual usage details. So it's not really wasted space...

As for data usage, I think 6 hours is a good default if you are worried about data. You can increase the interval to 12 hours or once a day if you like.

I haven't done accurate calculations on how much data is involved, but i suspect ~1MB for each widget request.
The main koodo website is quite bloated.

I have posted a rather lengthy announcement on G+ (https://plus.google.com/103590635425...ts/Cjw9c7odaCD).

You could do a 1x1 widget that opens the app when you click on the widget?
I don't know if there's a need for a whole separate area to click on to open the app.

I loaded up the widget on my phone today and it's all garbled. The data is there but it's formatting is all weird, and it's all squished into the far right 1/3 of the widget.

Also, on an account with multiple accounts in it, when you select a secondary account in the app, the number disappears from the top and no data is displayed.

Normally some users would expect to be able to click on the widget to open the app. But that means you can't change the subscriber for a widget once you add it. Hence why there is an area that acts as a shortcut to configure the widget and another area for the app's shortcut. I will look into a 2x1 widget, a 1x1 is most unlikely. Quite frankly the widget API in Android is a pain, making that widget was more of a triumph to me than making the actual app. lol (a little exaggerated, but somewhat true)

Send me screenshots of the widget and values shown on the usage page in the app. My email is easy to find.
I screwed around with the widget layout a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if I broke something.

Today's update should fix multiple phones switching (I hope).

It is rather sad that Telus couldn't do a simply re-brand of their application for Koodo, not that their application is very good anyhow.

Also, nice work mhniyo! I will be checking that out later. It is good to see that they don't have a problem with your app.

Koodo claims to be "making our own official app for Android, BB and iOS with more features". Who knows for how long they've been at it...

My guess is that IF they are making one, it is not simply a re-brand of the current Telus one because people really hate it as it is not a real app. It is just a redirect to the mobile website (which koodo also has at selfserve.koodomobile.com).

I guess they realised taking down a 3rd party app, knowing very well they won't have an official one anytime soon is dumb. Besides, someone is doing their work for free.

If you do run into any issues, send me an email from Settings -> About -> Report a problem

    KooDroid App released!

The source code for the KooDroid app has been released on GitHub [1].
The app itself [2] has been available since June. There was already a beta app with nice reviews since November. The beta program will be discontinued very soon.

With the release of myTelus looming, surely an official Koodo app is bound to follow.
I'm not sure if there will be a need for KooDroid, but I'll keep it on the store for as long as I can.

From the looks of it, the official app is a wrapper around a mobile website. This means that it most likey won't have a widget.

I just thought I should give an update since this is where I first posted about this app.

    Cheers!
