service time doesn't transfer to new Tracfone?

I read where someone complained that if the old Tracfone had more than 60 days, that time doesn't transfer to the new Tracfone, you only get 60 days on the new one. Can someone confirm if that is true?

In my experience that is not true. If you are activating a new Tracfone by transferring your old number, minutes and due date from a currently active phone everything transfers plus an additional 60 days of service and 10 starter minutes if the transfer is handled by a CSR.

That is good to know; can this be done on their website or does it have to be handled by a CSR?

It depends on the type of phone. GSM to GSM must be handled by a CSR. I think CDMA to CDMA can be done on the web site. The past few transfers I've done have been GSM to GSM. The experience was rather painless going through CS..... less than 5 minutes total time each.
The downside of CSR transfers or activations for that matter is you only get 10 starter minutes where a web site transfer yields 20 starter minutes.

Well, I've transferred my number, minutes and days many times GSM to GSM and ALWAYS used the website. Never had to go through CS. You must use the CS if you are transferring more than 1100 minutes and more than 365 days. Otherwise, the website works for me.

I just transered 1400 minutes and 15 months to a new phone. Because of the large amount of minutes, I called Customer Service in Miami. Everything was transfered, plus 2 more months and 10 more minutes. No problem.

I've attempted to transfer GSM to GSM a few times over the years. Each time at some point the process was stopped and I was directed to call C/S without completion. I know Jimates tutorial says it can be done. I just have not had success doing so.... YMMV

I recently transferred from an old, but dead CDMA (Nokia 2285) within a couple of weeks of expiry, and the website wouldn't credit more than 60 units (I had more like 1060 units)

    Had to call it in.

I gave the thread a 5 star rating, but someone seems to be reducing most of them to 3 stars. Thanks for everyone's input.
