Any word on a release date?
I dont suspect we will be getting any significant info on this phone for quite some time
Sent from my DROID X2 using HowardForums
I really wanted a keyboard and am tired of my sluggish, constant rebooting droid 2. I was hoping to get a new phone before 2012 and was waiting on the Vigor, Prime, or Spyder. I'd much prefer another keyboard phone.... Just hoping this comes out before January. I've also had my NE2 $50 since July... do we lose that after a certain amount of time?
More info...
- Keyboard- What makes the keyboard so nice is that it isn't individual buttons like the Droid, it's a "sheet". Sorta like a rollaway keyboard. Easy to use, easily best keyboard to date.
- Model number is XT894 (could be a smokescreen)
- VERY Possible that THIS phone is actually the Droid HD (Susurro already confirmed that the "Spyder" isn't the HD as everyone previously thought), although Droid 4G makes so much sense marketing wise don't see how they couldn't use that name
I would hope they save Droid HD official nomenclature for a pretty revolutionary phone screen PPI and size wise. A 720p+ 5"+ phone is the ONLY thing worthy of that name. Spose this could be a 720p phone technically making it worth of HD, but somehow not guessing it as as a 4" phone, not sure there would be a good point as that's like retina display. Guess maybe that is the point then?? Whatever, Droid HD it is!
I agree with you on the Droid 4G. Mostly because I think Droid HD should be something unique since that nomenclature tends to suggest something cinematic in nature and for whatever reason, to me has less significance to a consumer from the camera perspective than it does from the display perspective. The Droid HD should be some monster screen phone with a kick stand and such intended to straddle the ground between phone and tablet. Or, maybe be one of these Xoom replacements with Droid branding and a more cinematic screen than any tablet before?
certainly makes a lot of sense to me. What better way to piss off your customers than release the MUCH better Droid 4 6 months later. Then again there is now a rumor that VZW is starting up a "Droid Loyalty" program. Info is scarce but from what I understand it has to do with the retention of current Androidcustomers. Maybe like a buy back program? I don't know. Droid Life is reporting it

Yeah, that's exactly why it makes sense to NOT call it the Droid 4.
I believe the Android loyalty program is pretty mych the same as the "smartphone" program. Basically if you buy an Android phone and send in your Android phone, you will get a $100 Verizon gift card, which is brilliant move on they're part cuzz you won't be able to apply it to the purchase and get $100 off, and you'll spend it on their tremendously overpriced accessories cuzz you're not gonna keep it for two years til your next upgrade and I'm SURE it will have a relatively short lifespan (expiration date),and They get more phones to re-use for warranty repairs. This was why they got rid of NE2, they want you to spend any savings with them.
Bank of America employees were just offered a $100 gift card if they purchased a Bionic and sent in their phones.
You can use the $100 gift card to pay your bill, so it's not a bad deal...
