Ah so there still is a cover just the battery isn't "User removable". Which is understandable, that is how they are getting much better battery life by going with custom sized batteries which can optimize the space they have, having a user replaceable battery design probably was limiting the batteries capacity. We just have to wait for pics to see how hard it really is to replace the battery.

The thing about that is....if it can be removed kinda easy for those that try to remove it...is anyone gonna make batteries to fit in the phone? Will Seidio take up the challenge? Thats probably the only place I would go to for a new battery that I can put in myself.

I can't tell you how excited I am about this thread and about this phone. AND it's seemingly near release date. ( I was convinced the D4 would drop next summer). Fonesex, were you able to see if this is a global phone as it's predecessors? That is the last check I need on my list as I will be traveling extensively for work abroad. The removable back cover, sd slot, and previous droid globals have me anxiously crossing my fingers, thanks so much!

probably not, soon after the Razr comes out we should see a tear down, its battery should be similar to that of the D4.

I think in the future no SD card slots and non-removable batteries are going to be the norm. All at the cost at making a thinner/smaller phone

But isn't that putting form before functionality?

Do they really expect people to store all their music in the cloud and incur data charges every time they want to play a song?

If that's to be the future of smartphones, I'll go back to using dumbphones.

The reason the sdcard slot support is being limited or removed is not because of "thinness" but because Google sees sdcards as a vehicle for piracy of media and apps and other content. It is the same reason that sdcard support on the Xoom is limited and the Galaxy 10.1 tab had no sdcard slot at all.

That is part of their new security implementation in ICS. It remains to be seen how successful they will be in this effort, given the ubiquity of sdcards as the removable storage of choice for mobile devices.

There is really no alternative to an Android Phone lol, You'd be torturing your self on a Blackberry.

The only thing that would make me switch to Windows Phone would be if they stopped making high-end Android phones with physical keyboards...
