$100 off any smartphone.. called verizon.. appears to be only the midwest.. he specifically said chicago, but also seemed to have no idea what he was talking about as he kept talking to someone who was by him while on the phone.. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/08...tations-found/

If you look at the scans, it's actually $100 off any 4G smartphone only. Also, if you read the comments on the DL linked page, people seem to indicate that this is being mailed out to people on a limited basis, dependent on location and whether or not you are a current data plan owner. Also, it ends on 12/25. I wouldn't be surprised to see the D4 not released until after then, at the rate things are going at VZ.

Oh well. Went out to Verizon today and officially got on "the list" for the Droid 4. The guy didn't even know they were coming out with one. Of course he new all about the Galaxy Nexus. Hoping for a release next week but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Or the other option is that they really are having software glitches for certain bundled applications b4 launch.

This kind of stutterstep launch is either unintentional, in which case it is just plain poor management, or it's intentional market manipulation. In either case it will result in the sale of more of whatever phones are being hyped: RAZRs. A blanket $100 discount would have a similar effect.
If you release another model, a D4 or a GNex, it competes with...? The RAZR.

If it turns out indeed to. Be some software glitch, then I wpuld welcome the delay. Remember the D3 has all kinds of SW issues when it first came to the market, and only after the first update did it stablize. Hopefully the D4 won't have the thrice daily random reboots for the first month of its life, and comes rock solid with a stable suite of applications.

Just saw this screenshot posted on another website. It seems the Droid 4 has shown up on the DroidDoes site but has been pulled. Hopefully this is a good sign that it will be announced soon. Crossing fingers for next week.

They probably pulled it because the size says it's 2.8x5x5.

Torturing? I see what u mean though, from motoblur on, MMI has been known to ship half baked software interface on their phones that are only fixed later. Hopefully it changes with this release that they are actually taking these problems seriously. Its not a coincident that they have the worst reputation for developing SW interface on the market today.

Some have interdace that r much more polishied shipping on day 1, at least in my ecperience. Of the phones that I have used, Apple, Samsung, and Sony ericsson are all significantly more stable in interface software on day 1 of the product. MOT catches up with them later on, but only after a month or two of struggling. I'm hoping that they will put an end to the blur series of designs and just stick with the stock android whenever they become part of GOOG.

*edited my post for clarity* Recently, all manufacturers of Android phones release half-baked products that they have to fix after launch with a maintenance update. Samsuck's Droid Charge had 4G LTE and 4G LTE mobile hotspot issues that haven't been corrected and Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play has (horrible) data issues.

Wow, I never even had 1 reboot per day. Mine's been stable from the first day I powered it up.
