I believe that's to keep them from losing thier spectrum licenses, meaning a bare minimum launch something like a tower or 2. But it's better than nothing I suppose.

I never thought we'd see a Clear 4G site in our area, but sure enough it's up and live in Ukiah, however, Clear isn't selling service on it quite yet. Of course it's service area ends about 5 miles south of me at the Forks (I'm in Redwood Valley),grrrJust got to http://www.clear.com and plug in zip 95482 for coverage.

That must be why Sprint put up one, TEENY TINY site near Upper lake in Lake County a few years ago, it barely covers anything. It's the only Sprint site between Cloverdale in Sonoma County and Eureka in Humboldt County, Sprint relies on USCC for roaming up here. However, that Clear 4G site actually looks to cover most of Ukiah and Talmage, so that's good.
I am too, but I guess they wanted to make sure they didn't lose their license here.
I'm surprised, too. I have had Clear service and they even have trouble keeping adequate download speeds (over 1mb) most weekends and weekday evenings!
That must be why I once saw on their map they had like one tower in Fresno (which covers a few blocks, lol), even though they don't sell service there. They have a crazy amount of spectrum (although sadly it provides weak signal at 2.5-2.6GHz), so if I were them I'd also be worried about losing any of it. The spectrum is probably what gives them the most value should they ever want to sell the company.
Well, that's good to hear. Just make sure that if its from Sprint, you get a device soon.
No Clear/4G or VZW 4G just north of LA. Have to rely on the T-Mo/AT&T fake 4g.

AT&T... your world, throttled.
Well, other than that one TEENY site near Upper Lake in Lake County, Sprint has no sites between Cloverdale and Eureka, that's almost 200 miles of roaming for themSprint's coverage in Nor*Cal STINKS too.
Edit-I am pretty sure Sprint built that site just to keep their license in our RSA (344), because it hardly covers any land or people. They pretty much rely on USCC and VZ for roaming coverage up here.

Nope, no iDen here. I don't think Sprint could deploy on 850 here anyway, the two 850 licenses here are with Verizon and U.S. Cellular.

Hmm, they still aren't selling the service in Ukiah yet, any idea why?
Will they ever sell service here, or did they just put up a signal to say they have service in our market to keep their license? If you look at the rest of NorCal, they have done the same thing in Eureka, Santa Rosa, Marysville and Yuba City, putting up signal but not selling service.
Windows Live/ Mobile Site is COOL now!
