Well, folks, I can't tell you how much I appreciate everyone's help in this thread. If not for you, I would have run out my 14 day return and probably been stuck with the phone, thinking I wasn't setting it up properly.
I've already boxed up my Dart and transferred the number and time onto an old SIM that I had laying around so that I can at least stick it in an older phone and get some use out of it. The Dart goes back to WalMart tonight and I can't wait to tell them that TMobile was unable to properly activate the phone.
As for me, I've found a Droid Incredible that I can stick on my old Verizon account that will tide me through the next few months until the contract's up.
IF TMo can make this thing work, it would make a great Christmas present for my daughter. That gives them a month to get their act together, as far as I'm concerned.
Once again, thanks!

A chat transcript from a few minutes ago. The original question was: I'm interested in porting my postpaid AT&T line over to the new prepaid Walmart exclusive unlimited text/5GB web/100 min plan. Is it possible to port to that new plan?
~Lori W: Hi there Jordan! How are you today?
Jordan B: Good, thank you
~Lori W: That's good to hear! I'll be happy to assist you today.
~Lori W: I would suggest that you activate the plan first with a T-Mobile number, and then contact our Activations department to have a port in request submitted. The AT &T number would then take over the new number assigned. Please remember the AT&T number needs to be active in order to transfer.
Jordan B: OK. I can do that. Also, I have an old myTouch 3G phone. Do you know if that phone will work on this new plan, data and all?
~Lori W: This deal is offered through T-Mobile.com or Walmart only, and is for a specific phone purchased. It cannot be used on an old T-Mobile phone.
~Lori W: You will need to contact one of these sales channels for further information regarding this promotion.
Jordan B: OK. Thank you for your help.
~Lori W: You're very welcome Jordan!
~Lori W: Thank you for contacting T-Mobile Chat, and thanks for being part of our family.

My "specific " phone is LG s170 which is not even 3g from WM.
How is this "toy " phone is specific for 4G data plan?

BTW, in Opera-Mini all sites works. Use this browser for now on your phone. The stock browser and tethering doesn't. But it worked on Sunday.
I just read post on SD and the person claims he activated his T-M kit from Target and ported the old number. There is something strange going on with this plan.

I don't have this plan, yet, but I think this SSL/HTTPS/443 block has to be a mistake. The plan is a 4g plan, sold with Android devices. The blocking of HTTPS renders these devices useless with the 4g plan. I'm no GSM wizard, but I can't see how a new or old SIM card would effect a port being blocked or open... It doesn't make sense.
Those with the plan, and who have contacted CS already should also make contacts here to try and get the issue resolved. ...In my opinion.

To make this clear....I did NOT transfer it to the older SIM that came with the phone, I sent the plan & number to a SIM that I had previously used in a TMo phone last year. All I did was call the regular customer service number, ask that we be able to switch SIMs and they did it. I then removed the SIM from the phone and re-inserted the now-deactivated one that I had been using.
They asked me why I needed to switch SIMs and I told them the phone and its original sim(s) were being returned. No hassles at all.

T-M let me to login to my account on-line:
https://my.t-mobile.com:443/Default.aspx?rp.Logon=true
So it blocks all other 443 sites but let's in it's own. Looks like Firewall should be configurated or disabled for this plan.
That's probably the reason there was so much confusion among the CSRs that had attempted to help me over the past couple of days. The last one this morning said he was going to "switch my phone to another tower for better reception". Well, OK whatever. He did whatever he was going to do and it, of course, did nothing. That's when he told me there was "a lot of network maintenance going on" and when I remarked that network maintenance two days after launching a LOAD of new plans seemed to me to be a bad idea, he agreed. He promised everything would be complete within 72 hours.
That's when I decided to cut bait. American Express has agreed to contest/refund the $33.08 (with tax) that I paid for the plan on Thursday, despite TMo's refusal to do so, even though they were never able to make the phone work properly.
When it comes to purchases like this, believe me, American Express is really your friend.
No problems returning the phone, I wound up talking to the manager at WalMart about the problems with the plan and they both turned pale when I explained the situation. Of course, the phones stayed on the shelf as TMo could fix this mess at any time.
Yea, right....![]()
