Thank gawd! I'll be able sleep tonight knowing the AWS network isn't going to collapse under the extra load of iUsers jumping on the bandwagon.

Now if only I can get a loonie every time a new iPhone on Wind/Mobi thread starts up after this launch here and on Wind's forums.

PS I was quite disappointed by how disingenuous the launch was, touting speeds of 14.4Mbps!!! Come on, this is old tech and already on the cusp of being replaced of LTE.
    Rogers:
    Unlimited Canada-wide calling, 2500 sent SMS - $35; 6GB Data - $30 less $10; Call Fwd/xfr - N/C; Local UMA - N/C; Value Pak - $10

    Moblicity:
    $23 BTS

But it's as fast as the Atrix now!

I still wonder why people still say this?
What about Android phones? I stream videos, music, download apps and updates, so not sure why iPhone's are the true test of a network when Android devices can do the same and maybe even more.

Because new Android phone growth is measured and gradual whereas growth of iJunk devices are based on fad and the whims of Apple

    We'll find out next week!

I'm hesitant to contribute this to an iPhone thread, but...
Not enough changed in the 4S. Faster. Better camera. Order a card (seriously?). Voice actions that are better than Google's current released implementation. One or two new features in the next Nexus could really bring it ahead of the iPhone.

    Great point icemasta,

The reality is that remarks such as those previously posted are from individuals who clearly do NOT like the iphone for one of several reasons. Also, it is the same people who feel that because they use Android devices, that the Android OS is superior to iOS and the iPhone.

These individuals who have chosen to use Android devices want to feel that they are 'in the know' and want to feel that they are 'smarter' for choosing it, as opposed to the iPhone - simply because the 'average' consumer gravitates towards to iPhone due to its appeal and these Android users like knowing they are above and not influenced by Apple's marketing.

I don't want to generalize EVERYONE who chooses Android, because it's clearly obvious that Android users occupy a very broad spectrum. It's just the few extremists (who just so happen to frequent these forums) that create this whole 'Android is superior' aura and personally enjoy the self gratification that comes with openly putting others down.

I don't mean to cause an argument or stir up trouble, but I am sure some of you can't deny that there is some truth to what I have said.

By the way, this is coming from someone who has been using Blackberry for the past 5 years and is fully aware and acknowledges that their BB 9780 is a piece of sh*t and that anyone who is on iPhone or Android are utilizing far better devices than me.

    cheers

I think what he was implying is that there would be a mass exodus from the major carriers. Many people stay with Rogers, Bell, Telus and Virgin because they can not use the iPhone 4 on the discount brand networks. If the iPhone became available on Wind/Mobilicity we'd be seeing a lot more new subscribers on both of those networks which would bog down the networks with all the additional usage.

Thank you Deafmented for putting my thoughts so succinctly.

If a carrier like AT&T with vast resources could not keep their network running with the iPhone, smaller carriers will have a much harder time keeping up with the increased load.

Before it was AT&T, it was Cingular. And Cingular did not have a good reputation in terms of network/signal. Add in a whole whack of people trying to get EDGE/3G data very suddenly on a network that which could handle it, was not designed for those numbers of customers, was crippled by their own success.

I fully acknowledge that my Blackberry 9300 is a POS as well. If I had a choice, I would go Apple. I've owned the phone and still have the iPod Touch. Since there's no iPhone on AWS this year... I now need to find some damn Android device to hold me over for a year.... upset and distraught would be an understatement...

Personally I see it as Apple's loss, not mine. That's a lost sale for Apple.

I'll admit to being curious about the iPhone. I wanted to see how it would compare to the Nexus Prime on Wind/Mobilicity. However, with the relatively minor update and the larger ongoing costs of the iPhone on the Big 3, looks like I'll have to stick with the Nexus Prime on the HMP.

Options are always good and I hope that there is an AWS version of the LTE iPhone next year.

Apple being Apple, they don't give a damn. They anyways feel they are doing you a favor selling you the iphone, not the other way around.
