I have the original HTC Touch with unlimited mobile browser that was included with caller id and voicemail for $10.00 The plan is grandfathered, and I am looking at changing the plan over to newer hardware.....what is the best hardware choice for me to utilize this old plan?

Wait the palm pre is still an option? Buddy that's the best you're going to get. I had a pre and overclocked with a 5x5 menu it was great. The web browser isn't too shabby.
My Plan - $60
200 Local Daytime Minutes
E/W @ 6
Fab 10 Nationwide
Unlimited North America SMS / MMS
10 Hours Mobile TV
6GB LTE compatible data

thanks for the suggestion, my impact is starting to get unresponsive sometimes :|
What about buying outright and putting the SIM card in?
There is no SIM card in a Touch. It is a CDMA device.
So, the only goodoption is a palm pre?
THe palm pre won't work, I bought one for $60 and put it on my account through the online tool and it removed my unlimited mobile browser without telling me.
I called customer service and they weren't able to put it back on. They did reverse all the data charges that month so that's good I guess....
TELUS Mobility - $50.00 per month (36 Month Term) (Personal)| $300 Port-In Credit
350 Minutes (per second) | 6pm Eve & Wknds | Unlimited CDN LD | Unlimited SMS | Call Display | Voicemail | 6GB Data
BELL Mobility - $38.00 per month with Bell Bundle (12 Month Term) (Business)
400 Minutes | 6pm Eve & Wknds | Unlimited Incoming | 500 LD Mins | Call Display
Problem with that strategy is that you have to buy the phone first......Bell should let customers know the rules ahead of time instead of forcing us to guess...
And my best guess is they look at how much money they are making off you at the present time, and then decide from there, which is really unfair.....
Noticed someone is selling a Bell plan with the $10 UMB with a Samsung Gravity Touch. Can that be used? Pros and Cons verses the trusty HTC Touch
I have a HTC touch .... 5 months till I can leave the contract, owning a $25 mobilicity plan now I think I am just waiting for it to be over and and leave Bell's Data once and for all.
I am having the same issue with Bell right now (currently on hold). I originally had the HTC Touch and wanted to upgrade. I have been told many different things by different agents. Some say a dumb phone is the only way. But I have had 2 agents and one store rep tell me that the following phones are compatible with UMB: HTC Wildfire S, Samsung Galaxy 551, and the Samsung Galaxy Gio. The last agent was explicit and said that I would not be charged for data usage and he would put a note on my file stating clearly that he told me that. I wanted to be absolutely sure so I got him to transfer me to tech support. But the agent I got there told me the exact opposite. He tried to transfer me to a manager but eventually got disconnected while on hold. I have been on the phone now for over an hour but I am determined to get this resolved.
Well there seems to be a LOT of misinformation out there. I can confirm that UMB DOES WORK on a Gio. I checked my usage after browsing and using the youtube app and all data shows up as unlimited mobile browser 1X (7MB so far). I got a fourth confirmation, this time from a tech support person. It took me almost 3 hours on the phone being disconnected 3 times after being put on hold, but the last tech person I spoke to confirmed it again. It seems that in this case the tech support agents are the least informed (and also the worst at dropping calls!). They are very confident that it will not work, and the only way they are convinced otherwise is if they speak with a customer support person. So over all I spoke with about a dozen people from bell. Only ONE knew right away and three were convinced after they investigated.
I hope other HTC touch owners looking to upgrade will see this won't be fooled into either a dumbphone or a ridiculously priced data plan.
