    quetions about Chatr (iPhone user)

    1) I read one person saying that Chatr kiosks can offer micro SIMs for iPhone users, is this true? My local Bestbuy which carries Chatr says they don't support iPhone directly, that I have to modify the SIM myself.

    2) do you get an email address for your Chatr phone number where email shows up as a text (I know fido has it like 6041234567@fido.ca)

    3) One person said their factory unlocked iPhone doesn't work due to APN settings and/or something to do with "Personal Hotspot". Are these working for people here?

    Thanks for any help.

No chatr doesnt have micro sims. Nor do they support the iphone. You can cut your sim into a micro sim yourself. Chatrs policy is that your responsible to set up the iphone yourself, chatr have been told by apple not to touch nor set up customers iphones. Customers use iphones at there own risk and set up apn settings themselves. Cause technically chatr doesnt support iphones nor blackberry's

I just asked a Chatr kiosk and the above info is incorrect: the kiosks do carry micro SIMs, and the rep offered to help set up an iPhone 4 when I port my number over.

Thats incorrect. They do not carry micro sims because chatr does not carry the iphone 4 and chatrs policy with iphones is that they can not set up the iphones for you as it was told by apple not to. They only sell nornal sims and they can help you set up an android or other smartphone. Chatr does not support iphones nor blackberries

wow thanks, do you work for Chatr? If so, does it bother you that an employee from an official Chatr kiosk is promising me a product that Chatr does not supply, and is offering to help me set up a phone that the company does not support? I already heard people saying the kiosks offered micro SIMs, that's why I went. The internet is so useful...

While the official tag line is that they don't support the iPhone, in a way, they do.

For starters, all of the APN details and codes you need are posted on their webpage in the FAQ section.

And any Chatr kiosk I've spoken to is more than willing to direct you to trim the SIM card (e.g., "that jewellery store right over there, etc").

No, Chatr does not have micro-SIM chips. That would lead me to believe whatever kiosk is offering 'micro-SIM' is doing the cutting themselves...

You think Apple told Chatr this? I'm not sure I believe that...

Some dealers activate Chatr on a Rogers sim card. I'm sure youll find someone who can do this for you on a microsim card from Rogers. Also, you can buy sim cutters for under 10 dollars. That will convert any sim card into a micro sim.

    Will this way work?

Go to Apple store and ask them to give you a free Rogers micro SIM.

Try to activate Chatr online using Rogers micro SIM.

I've been having issues with my iPhone 4 on Chatr. It periodocially needs me to reset the network settings in order for the phone to work. This started about a month ago and has become worse over time.

I dont think this has been answered yet but if your planning on using any iPhone with the $45 data plan there is a small hack you need so that you can use the data. This is because by default you cannot change the apn settings on it.
You first need to be connected to wifi. Go to "www.unlockit.co.nz" change apn settings. Canada should be preselected so you just have to select Chatr. Click install. Thats it.
