They won't unlock it for you because you won't complete your current Fido Agreement, no exceptions...

I am planning to switch to Rogers corporate plans.
I have two lines and plan to buy one iPhone 4S and keep my Fido iPhone for the other line.
What is the best way to get the Fido iPhone to be unlocked? It still has 11 months left out of the 3 year agreement.
Would Rogers be able to unlock it for me after switching over? Or do I have to unlock it first with Fido? Though I can't see how I can get Fido to do that when they see I have 11 months left in the agreement.
And if Rogers unlocks it for me, would it be a permanent unlock or would the iPhone be now locked to Rogers?
Any pointers are much appreciated.

any updates to this?
interbrand migrations I should think would fall under an exception to the policy. You're still with the sister company for the remaining term, not like you just ported on m2m. They should be accomodating people taking this route by unlocking for free.

I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed. The ECF is being forgiven, after all.

Actually, legally they would have competed their agreement. As per the agreement the customer can pay to terminate. The fact that Fido chooses to waive those fees, in cases that financially benefit them, make no difference in the terms of the contract and its termination.
Once formally terminated, fido's policy is to unlock on request. They don't have to and might make up some excuse, but it is incorrect to say the agreement wasn't competed.
Such a racket. Introduce a defect into the product and charge to fix it.

If you wish for your phones to be unlcoked, you can simply request the unlocks when you call customer service prior to the transfer. The unlock fees would be billed to your final invoice.
*as official as anything from SM can be anyway
It's definitely possible to do it, but I forget the exact steps that must be done for it. Call in and ask.
Were you successful in porting to a Rogers corporate plan and having the ecf waived? I spoke to Fido customer relations and was told that this was not possible because the new Rogers account would not be in my name but in the corporate business name.
Anybody else been able to port to a Rogers corporate account and get the ecf waived???
Yes I know WorldIrc.
That would actually be the condensed version of it.
