Sure, but you'd get a new phone number. Or you could activate a 2nd line @ $15, then disconnect the line 1 day later and you have the phone and your existing plan and number.

Sure if you want to lose the current plan and number......

BTW: if anyone is getting cheap $15 plan just for the purposes of getting one of these phones, and wants to sell it to me for some Wind credit, PM me.

Would this work? I'm thinking about getting a Curve tomorrow for my sister...

Get a "pay your way" plan, put whatever the minimum is. Then transfer everything except $1 to your account and toss the SIM. The pay your way qualifies, so it seems like the best solution.

Are you sure it qualifies? Under the 'terms and conditions' it states only Pay Before and Pay After.

Regardless though, you could technically do the same for Pay Before.

Wind's website says the pay your way plan qualifies.

"The Lightly Loved sale prices only apply to new Pay Before or Pay After activations with a monthly voice plan that is $15/month or greater, or Pay Your Way. "

You can't do this with the $15 pay before plan, because they take the $15 right away.

I think you already know, what you can or can not do, if you make it public, it may not work as you know they may ammend the terms of the sale. I don't know why you would make this type of thing public and ruin it for your self & others.

I was under the initial impression that the cost for all these 'lightly loved' handsets as listed on the promotional banner INCLUDES the sim card for activation.

I contacted a store today and they apparently are charging $25 in ADDITION to the cost of the phone and the plan. Is this a policy that is up to the discretion of the individual stores? or is it just because this store I contacted is NOT a corporate store, but rather a private Wind retailer so they are allowed to make their own policies for this sale?

    thanks

Yup, that's what I was so sure of as well - that they are included, even the refurbished phones if you activate.

The dealer then went on to say that they may have some policies that are not the same as that at the corporate stores...

It's the one at 222 Spadina Ave (in Chinatown). If it is in fact a carrier-wide policy, can they be reprimanded for such a business tactic?

It sounds like they are selling you the sim card. Your best bet is to try and complain to Wind about the dealer.
    Just loving it.

No the dealers can decidedly choose to make money like this because to be honest it's already tough to be one for WIND.
A dealer could charge you "paper fee" if they wanted to because you wanted a paper receipt in store, or more commonly, charge you the .25 cents for using their debit terminal when paying for a product.

I've come across some weird **** in dealers from the etobicoke area, mainly near woodbine mall, but still got to hand it to DummyBuy for being stand up and as honest and fair as he can be.

Oh no, they ARE flat out saying that they are charing $25 for the SIM on top of the price of the phone when you activate the new plan. They're not even denying the fact - simply stating that they have different (read: their own) policies compared to the corporate stores.
