Hi there, I'm thinking of switching to WIND. I'm kind of a normal smartphone user who uses about 1GB / month. I don't bittorrent or anything like that. I would like to know if WIND limits / throttles your data traffic at my usage?
And also, how is the voice signal compared with Rogers etc?
im at 13 gb so far this month and havnt even been throttled yet. happened once before though.
You have to remember, they only throttle to an applicable calendar month. Meaning it doesn't last until your bill (unless your bill is on the first), it lasts until the end of the month in which it was implemented.
Nevermind Bell.. LTE is fine.
FIDO $56 Smart Plan: Unlimited nationwide talk, global messaging, 2GB data w/ BIS and LTE, value pack
WIND $40 Wish Plan: Unlimited nationwide talk, global messaging, unlimited data w/ BIS, call control
All my posts are my own opinion only and not necessarily that of any of my employers, past or present.
I've never been throttled in the 3 or 4 times I've used over 5GB. They reserve the right to slow you down if you are causing network congestion. And, I believe they will send you a sms notification that they are limiting your speed. I think it's fair.

Ya they reserve the right to limit after 5GB. I got hit with the limit after 19GB, and let me just say the the throttled speed is way to slow to do anything productive.
I don't plan on ever going over 5 GB. 256 kbps (throttled speed) is way too slow. I was tethering my WIND data to my laptop yesterday and even unthrottled it couldn't keep up with the 700 kbps Netflix stream (0.3 GB/hour). Buffered a lot. That is the lowest setting for Netflix! HD video is like 5 Mbps or so. I'm not even sure how I could even get 5 GB out of WIND if I can't stream 700 kbps video (lol) without it buffering every few minutes. What do you guys use WIND's data for? Through "regular use" (using data on the go for browsing, Facebook, Google Navi, apps like HoFo) I barely use much. And I'm not a fan of tethering for regular browsing either unless my home internet is down because you notice the difference between Rogers Cable internet and WIND mobile data in browsing speed.
I know people like to torrent but I'm afraid of getting a letter from the MPAA or HBO or anyone else I'm pirating from. lol. So I download from file hosting sites. But Wind's data is so unreliable that I might get incomplete downloads and have to download all over again. So Ill probably continue to use my home internet bandwidth (capped at 60 GB) for that. lol.

Wow, Comparing a landline based service to wireless provider. Let me know the plan from Bell, Rogers, and Cogeco that's WIRELESS and $30.00/month.
A little off topic here, do you guys think that the Wind bandwidth meter is accurate? Compared to the data usage counter in ICS, I find it to be high by a factor of 2. Obviously no complaints until the throttle.

That's not a huge deal as you're not being charged overages.
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.
