iPhone Preorder Experience

Long story short, I preordered at 3:00am, one hour after availability. My shipment for whatever reason got pushed back and won't arrive today as promised. So an rep said I could buy one in-store and they could cancel my shipment. Apparently my shipment is too far along in the process though because they couldn't cancel it.

They're also telling me that they can't move the upgrade eligibility for the line up a few months (I'm currently using alternate upgrade for iPhone from primary line). Is this true? Can they not do this anymore?

Here are my options they laid out for me:

- wait for preorder phone to arrive
- buy iPhone at full retail, and return it when preorder arrives w/ credit to negate restock fee
- buy iPhone at full retail, return preorder iPhone, have mail physical copy of contract renewal, and get a phone subsidy applied to my bill

This has to be the worst purchasing experience I've had in a looooong time. Can someone help me out, perhaps any reps on these boards that can confirm my options?

Okay so I had a meeting scheduled for 8:30a so I had to leave the Verizon store. The manager didn't like the idea of buying a phone at full retail to use for a temporary fix because obviously it's not good for his inventory. He said he'd figure something out. I come back 2 hours later and he used a E2M upgrade on the line that was set to receive the iPhone. Something that numerous CSRs told me could not be done, even Tier 2 reps.

So now I just have to return the shipment of the preorder, whenever Verizon decides to ship that, and my primary line upgrade will be reverted and money reimbursed. Or so I'm told.
